Good price. A sign of collapsing commodity prices and the rapid food inflation is behind us. I think we will be seeing significant food deflation over the next twelve months. Ketchup was one of the quickest to jump in price…

Well it wasn't, other ketchup brands increased in price by around 15-20% whereas greedy Heinz more than doubled prices across the board during a cost of living crisis when people could least afford it.

So on principle, I refuse to buy any Heinz products now (the only reason they are offering these gimmick half price promotions through Sainsbury's is because millions of other people have also abandoned Heinz too and they're desperate to win back customers).

    Heinz ketchup is the best

I disagree, M&S own brand is nicer

M & s ketchup is £1 and tastes even better

    What size

The brands sold by Lidl and Aldi are just as good and about quarter the price of Heinz. Other low cost brands such as Daddies are predominantly vinegar and water.

Just wanted to point out that Pudliszki Ketchup is also made by Heinz and is delicious........and normally found in the Polish section of your local supermarket at a significantly lower price that actual Heinz!

*be aware that they do a spicy version as well, and it's quite difficult to differentiate if you don't speak Polish.

Never buying Heinz again after Ketchup went to £7 for 910g and a Tin of Beans and Chicken Soup had both gone up to £1.70 each

Lurpak and heinz are never getting my money again

Gone from buying Heinz to Sainsbury's Organic one. Prefer it now. Better ingredients and tastes good. Often have deals on it on Nectar too.

I've switched to Tesco own tomato ketchup after reading many reviews. Around £1.35 for a bottle this size and if you stuck it in a heinz bottle nobody would be any the wiser. For Salad Cream get Sainsbury's own. Not found a good HP sauce equivalent yet.

Nor had I and then I tried Aldi’s brown sauce.

It’s a bit runnier than HP but the taste is great.

Some really good Nectar offers in Sainsbury's at the moment.
No idea why. Got burgers and sausages half price the other day. £1.75 for 6 Cumberlands (89% pork).

Yeah for years Sainsbury's was the biggest rip off ever but have gotten some good burgers there recently for buttons

Nice, will need to go early and stack up on Ketchup.

When Asda had their lurpak offer I was only able to get a couple of tubs.

They've changed the nozzle recently and got rid of the translucent rubber valve. Seems to leak more now.

Buy it before it's back to £17.99.

I never shop at co-op but after doing a bit of research last year I decided to buy their own brand ketchup. It's actually really good. I tried to get another bottle last week but the shelf was empty. There wasn't many on the shelf the first time I got a bottle. Perhaps a sign it's actually rather good. (edited)

Here's some useless information for you all:

The biggest bottle also has the best flow control thanks to the rubber valve inside the cap (although, after reading thomas.chan's post, this may be all over).
The smallest bottle has a terrible flow control. Even with the smallest squeeze, too much will often squirt out.

The medium size bottle also has good flow control due to its plastic chamber-structure inside the cap with a smaller nozzle.

The biggest bottles cap will also fit the medium size bottle, which is what I usually keep in the cupboard.

Yes, these things bother me... (edited)

Co-op Ketchup is just as good as Heinz, if not better. And cheaper. We switched when Heinz raised their prices an insane amount (edited)
  26. ravmania's avatar
We literally bought Tesco Ketchup yesterday as the Heniz was £4.50 for the big bottle vs £1.35 for the own brand.

Will have to get down to Sainsbury's sharpish.
