hi, looking to buy a new hdtv looking at the 1080p.

been looking at the LG 47LF66: http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/?modelcode=LGE-47LF66#_

seems like a nice tv at a good price. although not dealt with empire direct before not experienced lg tv's before either

any thoughts on the tv or any other good deals on full hdtv's?

Thank you

Plasma is better, basically.

It accepts a 1080p input, but downscales it, it still looks awesome though. I have it and paid £900 in November! Anyway, that's a fantastic TV at a stupidly low price (the pedestal stand alone retails for over £100), I heartily recommend it. It's also great for SDTV (Standard Definition like Sky, DVDs and Freeview).

A 1080p Samsung plasma? What's the model number? Doubt it's 1080p at all.

That doesn't prove anything. What's the model number? I doubt it because the plasmas that do 1080p (Samsung) retail for three times the price you're asking.

...what? So again, no serial number - thought as much.

picture quality is better on plasma right now but LCD is catching up quick but they dont last as long as you may suffer from your screen burning in. i.e. if you accidentally leave your tv on a non moving screen, like a menu, then over time that menu will "ghost" itself on the screen and permenantly damage it. For that reason alone i will go for LCD
