Hi all,

Looking to buy a 1tb external hard drive for my laptop to back up all my data - i have loads of pictures and videos of my family etc that I really cannot afford to lose so would appreciated recommendations of which 1tb hard drives are best for longevity and wont crash and burn in the 1st week.

Also it would be good to know which drives to avoid. Like everything there will be good and bad rviews but I need to make a best informed decision - also are there any websites with this sort of info apart from googling each hard drive?

Thanks you in advance

Except they're internal drives and external HDDs hardly ever specify which drive they're using.

For Drive reliability Western Digital seems to be on top at the moment, although all manufacturers are pretty good. They did have some reliability problems with the old casings, but as WD deals are still being posted on here I assume they're now fixed.

One coming out in Aldi next week for £70 with a 3 yr warranty.

However, anything you cannot afford to lose should be backed up onto discs.
