You could look at this Panasonic click model no:TH-42PX70 ,£876.90 at pixmania.

There is a discount code you can use for another £20 off (quidco3) this is valied until 15/4,also 3% quidco on sales.
Makes it around £831 with your quidco cashback:thumbsup:

wow - thats a real good price!!!!

I'd recommend a LCD instead a Plasma if you can afford it as they last twice as long, are slimmer and lighter and also use only a fraction of the power of a plasma which would save you money in the long run.

Make sure you check the pictures in store as the 42" LCD's seem very poor compared to a plasma of the same size (IMHO of course).

LCD's are normally better upto a max of about 37 inches.

37"+ plasma's are better. (Although nobody is exactly sure of the life span

My mate has just bought a Plasma and he said he got it as it was better than LCD for football and LCD's are not good when kids keep touching the screen?

Truthful review on the performance mate ??!!

from reading the online reviews off this set it was reported as having purple banding at times - whatever this is ??!! but overall came out very good, I dare say all sets have good /bad points and to be fair the panasoinics keep getting mentioned on the net as being the one to go for .

Like the idea off the five year warranty on something like this also.

you going for wall bracket ?? pleanty on ebay a heck off a lot cheaper than the £200 I was quoted in comet today !!

thanks again appreciatte your / others advice.

Doesn't come until monday.Have done quite a few days oif reading on avforums and only a small percent (very small) have complained about banding which they say goes after a short time.

I al ready have an Alpherson floating stand for the TV to go on.

This will be my 4th plasma and from views so far would say by far the best picture quality.

Yes correct. Plasmas are better for fast moving images, eg sport, action movies. They also tend to have easily wipeable glass screens. LCDs tend to have the soft distorting screens that you don't want a 3 year old poking.

My 42 inch plasma is constantly getting sticky handprints all over it from my two boys. Just make sure you use a lint free unabrasive cloth to clean the screen, and no chemical cleaners either.

Depends on the refresh speed of the LCD (8ms or better should be fine for football). Plasmas are just as vulnerable to kids fingers I believe.

I have the PX60. I did lots of research at the time of buying (about 9 months ago) mostly on AV Forums and am more than 100% satisfied with my purchase. More so!

It's fantastic - don't be put off by some reviews that you read, there are lots of perfectionist's out there. As long as you treat it with Kid Gloves for your first 200 hours, this is one hell of a Panel!!!!

Any chance you could advise me regards this running in process you mention above mate ?? as a total newbie to this side off things really would appreciatte your advice on how long to run it in and exactly what settings are involved during the run in process ??

thanks again everyone , another few quid saved thru ukhotdeals !!!

For 200 hours, keep all picture settings to minimum and also keep an eye on static logos (Sky one / Sky Sports) in the corner of the screens. If you can, use the Zoom function to take them away. And first thing - MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THE VIEW MODE FROM DYNAMIC AS SOON AS YOU GET IT!

Check out AV Forums for more detailed instructions.
