hi guys, i'm looking at upgrading my 42" phillips lcd tv at the end of the month. i have quite a large living room so a bigger screen wouldn't look out of place. i'm liking an LG 52" lcd. please see link :-

http://www.rgbdirect.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?SKUNumber=106134&Model=52LG5000

i don't think it's a bad price either. i'm put off by plasma as i've read their lifespan isn't as long as an lcd. potential screen burn too. i'm open to any advice / other suggestions. thanks for your time. x

Hi, I have a Philips 50" plasma tv and it is fantastic, you only need to worry about screen burn if you have a constant static image displayed for long periods of time, if like me you intend to use the tv for viewing television broadcasts then plasmas are fantastic, as for life span they last as long as any lcd in this day and age they are alot more advanced now than they used to be and are far superior for viewing hd sources...
... in my opinion!! hope this helps:thumbsup:

i have a house full of girls & my tv only ever has disney channel on during the day. i'm afraid of the large disney logo being 'branded' in the bottom corner of the screen! x:w00t:

you could well be right, not sure if it would affect the screen or not, however I think its a case of swings and roundabouts as I have seen lcd tvs with images burnt into the screen, I have as afore mentioned a 50" plasma in the living room and a 37" lcd in the kitchen and much prefer the image on the plasma, again I think that this comes down to personal preference.

when i turn my current tv off, i get the disney logo lingering for a moment or two that's it. would hate to spend a lot of money on a tv for it to get ruined.

£1047 here including free delivery (3-5 days) and in stock

I'd love the newer 52LG7000 but it's £400 more than the 52LG5000 at the moment so have to wait til they drop a little

the 2 TV's are due in stock on 16th January and seem to be newer models

£1095 for the 52LG5010
http://www.1staudiovisual.co.uk/catalog/52lg5010-inch-p-4504.html

and £1099 for the 52LG5020 (looks like this one has 4 speakers whereas the other 2 models have 2. It also has more inputs but not sure, best check LG website)
