For that price you are looking at the 7600gt or the X1650pro or X1650XT. (The XT being the better).

There is a guy selling a 7900GS in the sale section of this forum for £85ish. That is a decent price and the best card you will get in that price range.

I have just found this one which is better than the 7600gt and X1650pro but not quite as good as the 7900GS, but at only £80 it's a good buy.

Also if you can stretch to £100 or there abouts you are going to get a much better card.

here are two examples:
This is better than all of the above and costs £98:

And this is better still but costs £108:

the 7900GS is the superior card so if you can get it at a reduced price in the for sale forum then go for it...the guy says he only used it briefly and it is the overclocked model so a good spec.

yeah it is but I can collect from scan therefore get it much quicker and dont like buying used g cards, static/doesnt work, not much comeback.

Lol forget it, I just typed a 30 minute essay explaining the difference between graphics memory, and why it should be avoided on low end cards and at which point it becomes useful, only to press reply and be confronted with an error.

I press the back button and the whole lot had gone!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and a quick point, that card is a rip off, stay well clear mate!!

What beerman says ^^^^^^^

Got stung a few years back on a geforce 5200,worst purchase graphics card wise ever made.Got blinded by the alleged memory........it was a truly awful card complete waste of money.

I would go with his recommendations if i were you,you won't go far wrong:thumbsup:

apart from the 7900GS for sale on HUKD, does anyone have any slightly cheaper recommendations in my price range, £98 is quite a bit more than I was hoping to pay.

thanks

Yup that card is not very good, you can get a X1650pro for that price which is a lot better.

SO mate if you want brand new you are going to have to get either this:
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119483 which is just £51 for an X1650pro, only 4 left and this is a bargain!!!! For that price I would get it now.

Or this X1800GTO for £81 which is better but obviously more expensive:

If you prefer Nvidia then gt the 7600gt series like this one at £66:

The 7600Gt and the X1650pro are very close on performance, so I think the X1650pro at just £51 is by far the better buy!!

Taken your advise "For that price I would get it now", just ordered the x1650pro. Looks like a good price to me, hope your right :)

Thanks once again

You got a bargain mate, never seen them below £60 so that is great.

Anyone know a decent simple website offering a chart comparing the performance of graphics cards? Tomshardware seems a little clunky on getting to the right info.

All sites are about the same navigational wise. What is the problem your having with Toms Hardware?

You just use the pull down menu at the bottom of each screen to go to which page of the review/benchmarks you want. You won;t find a more easy to navigate site when looking for card benchmarks.

Here is a round up of the older AGP cards from a different website and as you can see, they use the same technique a Toms Hardware:

toms seems to have about five different charts ,each with different cards in. I'll take another look on there thanks. Just wanted to see how my Sapphire X800GTO2 stacked up these days. I try to replace my card yearly with a card thats been on the market about a year as I always seem to get them for around £100 and sell my old one for £50-£60. I think I'm due a new one ready for C&C3 :)

Got ya mate, I will have a search see what I can dig up. But for some strange reason when trying to find multiple graphics card test results it seems the harder I look the less results I get. But, if I am searching for maybe a test result between two particular cards I seem to get endless results in my search giving me info on about 20 cards all put up against each other.
