My friend is after a new tower after a insurance claim (house flood) and has been given £350 for a new machine. But he only needs the tower

He send me this link not sure of it tbh

Has anyone got any better suggestions?

he's only after keeping the tower?
Sorry if its not clear

He is only after a tower, he already has monitor, keyboard, mouse etc
The graphics aren't great (8200 NVIDIA shared graphics according to Laskys: http://www.laskys.com/computing/pcs_and_monitors/pcs/acer_asx3200_8450.html ) and the 2.1GHz Phenom isn't going to be blazing - but what would you expect for £320? So, not a great gaming machine, but it would be fine for email/net/word/excel/powerpoint type apps.

Hard to be sure, but it looks pretty small (Laskys quote the width as 10.0 cm)
so it looks like the CD/DVD drive might be vertical.
That is okay, but not great if you have a camcorder with mini-DVDs.
Worth checking in the shop if you need to use small disks.
thanks Spod,

Is there any bargains out there that he might have missed
What does he want to do with it?
I assume he's not a gamer?
This desktop PC got a good review on the PC Advisor website last week:

You can configure it to suit on the Eclipse website. I took away the monitor, keyboard and mouse and it came to £374. You can reduce (or increase) this further by changing components and software.

At this price it comes with:
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz LGA775
Graphics - 1Gb ATi Radeon HD 4650 PCI-Express
Ram - 4Gb (2x2Gb) Dual Channel DDR2 800Mhz
Hard Drive - 320Gb Maxtor DiamondMax21 SATAI/II 8Mb Cache
MicroSoft Windows Vista - Home Premium Edition

No plays the odd game but stuff like Championship manager
Did you see the Vostro thread?

That's a pretty good base machine.
If he needs more storage then bump the disk up to 500 GB for £35 extra.
Select a better graphics ATI card for £40 - or £70 if you want a pretty quick one.
Go for the Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz processor if you can afford it.

That would make a pretty decent system which you could upgrade further if you ever needed more disk or more RAM or better graphics.

EDIT - NOTE that the Vostro prices don't include VAT - they are "business" machines but that doesn't mean that they aren't good enough for home use.
