where are you guys seeing a photo?
They swapped it out for a screen shot of bus lanes that are time controlled.
Further suggestion that if it isn't mentioned as time controlled then it's operational 24/7
It appeared to be a "Bus lane Street" ie.. One lane each side with bus only written on the correct driving side, with the car on the wrong side of the road.
Very clear give way lines behind the car to indicate the correct direction of travel making the car on the wrong side of the road to avoid the bus lane assumingly.

Here's the original pic. Love google cache

Each bus lane has the times of operation on the approach signage. If the sign does not show times then it operates 24 hours

Well from the photo it looks like you were driving on the wrong side of the road to avoid driving in the bus lane. Although from the photo you can't see the whole picture of the surroundings, but it looks like the only vehicles allowed down that road would be busses hence the writing on the road in big white lettering.
Time to cough up some cash me thinks.
Or get a really expensive solicitor to come up with some loophole in the law to get you off with it. Either way. £££.

I wouldnt make that much fuss

You are driving on the wrong side of the road
#5
Only strayed onto it (headlight) to avoid loss of life a cat ran out in front of me
#6
how am i on the wrong side of the road the other side is a bus lane
#7
if they issued you a ticket, you can be certain that you were not allowed in that bus lane.
#8
At 2am and its only the headlight that is in the bus lane

Scotland is not independent yet we drive on the left in the UK. Unless the pic is of you reversing? I'm actually guessing you turned right into the road where there is no right turn as there is a central reservation?

so if i go to the other side of the road i am in the bus lane fully
need to have an idea where the camera is as it was my son that was driving

looks like a roundabout in background to me but not 100% sure as my son has gone out now
#18
Look at the give way lines at the junction behind the car, clearly on the wrong side of the road so in order to be on the right side your whole car would be in the bus lane, admit your mistake, pay the fine, move on.
#19
In the direction of travel you are heading in is is clearly a bus lane as it states on the floor.
Driving the wrong way down the street does don't mean you are excluded.

My suggestion is pay. It is an automated ticket. If you try and contest it the council may hand it over to the police. A 'CD10' is going to cost you upto 9 points and £2.5k fine. In reality as nothing has happened it will more likely be 3 point and £100.
#20
hmm some not find this on Google maps :)
#21
Yep, the car is definately on the wrong side of the road. Lucky its only a bus lane fine...

it's not us you have to argue with or convince. if there are no times on bus lane signs then it is operational 24/7 so unless you can post a photo of a sign in that bus lane which states that it is operational outside of your 2am infringement, you're stuffed.

don't matter if only some part of your car was in the lane, i remember someone got done where just one of their wheels were just outside a white parking slot.

My suggestion would be pay or hand in your driving licence or retake driving test for not knowing which side of the road etc.
#25
it was not me that is what is frustrating i would know which side of the road or where it was
if i put it was my son first it would have strayed off topic like why was your son driving, cant you ask him, he should be honest with you etc etc

but anyway will wait till he gets back and try and see where it was
#26
FYI - the penalty is not for entering a bus lane, but entering a "BUS ONLY" lane as clearly shown in the photograph and this in force at all times.

Maybe he is ahead of time and his son is Nicola Sturgeon! X)
#28
that's atrocious, why we're you given a ticket your just a tiny bit in bus lane , I would fight it and say you just swerved a little

The fact the neither you or your son can clearly see (or know what they mean) the dashed lines at the top of the junction behind the car in the photo which are in fact give way lines for traffic on the correct side of the road (travelling in the opposite direction to the vehicle) - therefore if both of you are of the same thought process/understanding then IMHO you both need to stop driving and retake your driving test until you've passed.

If it's only you who cannot see the facts then let your son accept and pay the fine, ask him why he was driving on the wrong side of the road and depending on his reply take action as required. If it was my son with a full driving licence and poor excuse I wouldn't let them drive until some corrective action is taken but that's me I care about my son and his life

So far in this thread you've clearly shown a true lack of understanding with regards to road layout/signage etc and I'm hoping you aren't a licensed driver of anything..

Pretty big swerve seeing as he's on the wrong side of the road to begin with...
#31
It's £30 if you pay up pronto . Is it really worth arguing over ?
#32
Go ahead, dispute it.

Make sure to keep us updated too.

Driving down the wrong side of the road to avoid a bus lane is a fantastic idea. Shame about that pesky swerve though, but distractions happen too right, I'm sure they'll understand when you explain it.

Surely it would be safer to drive in the bus lane, Otherwise dangerous driving, I'd pay up.

Next we'll have some idiot driving down the wrong side of the motorway trying avoid a traffic jam.!.

I'm with everyone else. Clearly the car is driving the wrong way down the road. There are clear "Give Way" markings. Chances are that camera would catch anyone driving a car down that road. It's probably a bus only road.

The excuse of the suicide cat won't fly. I would just pony up the money and move on. £30 if paid withing 14 days I believe.

You could always ask your son? Maybe?
