Help needed. I am wanting to buy a laptop for my son. I have seen a Acer and a Dell. They are both similar prices. Which one would you go for and why? Price range £400.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Just wait until tomorrow or Friday, the current Dell deals end today so new ones will be out for Christmas. Last year they had the 12 days of Christmas offers and they were genuine significant savings

Personally I would buy Dell or HP, I wouldnt buy Acer although I know Acers get good reviews. You will find personal opinions littered through HDUK, but this is my opinion.
Although it doesnt seem it at the time, it is very easy to get hold of a Dell technician if ever you have a problem, they even have an online chat facility which I have i used in the past and it was very good. I am responsible for over 30 PC's and our head office standard computer is Dell, all told we have around 300 Dell PC's and Laptops, the reason for it is because you buy them, run them for 3 years then buy some more, it very rare that you get a problem with they have good pedigree

You have got quite a good budget @ 400 so you could even stretch to a 17" version from Dell with that

If I see any offers I will post them to you via this thread. I get e-mails from Dell all the time and I am expecting one either later today or tomorrow
