Adding an extra HDD to my Dell Dimension

I've bought a new HDD to add to my Dimension 3100 but can't seem to find the plastic case that the HDD sits in which slides into HDD bay anywhere.

I might be being stupid as I'm no PC expert but any help will be greatly appreciated.

IIRC there should be 2 plastic strips bright green inside the case. These are clipped to side of new HDD and then it should just slide in. All of the many Dells I manage have had this system for at least 2 years. There's no plastic case for the HDD. Have you got the cable to attach the HDD? If its EIDE it'll be in the case, but if its SATA you'll need to buy a side entry cable. Best place I've found for those is Fleabay.

Best of Luck

Thanks for reply. The HDD that came with it has the plastic strips on but the spare bay is bare with nothing in it. So its those strips that I need. Its SATA and I haven't bought the cable yet so I'll check out ebay.

Thanks
