ADSL Router recommendation with sleep/power save mode

I have been using a home hub 2 and have now moved away from BT so this has gone. I am looking for a cheap WIFI router, with the same power save feature that puts the WIFI to sleep between user specified hours (say 10pm and 8am).
Don't particualy need the extra range from N, so just G connectivity will be fine. Also not in need of uPnP or NAS or any other "advanced" feature set.

check the back of your hh2, if its a "model a" it can be unlocked. unfortunately the guy who did the hard work(psiDoc) has shut down his site, if you want to go down that route let me know and i'll see if i still have the info/files

How about plugging the router into a timeswitch?

Hi, thanks for the suggestions to date.

It is a model 2b, but needs to be replaced so I am still looking for a recommendation on a suitable router.

I didn't want to use a timer switch on the future router because it is generally recommended leaving the router switched on at all times as the line management system (DLM) may interpret switching off and on a sign of instability on the line and will increase the SNR (signal to noise) margin to compensate. This increase has the effect of lowering the download and upload speed.

This is why I am looking for an ADSL router that allows on/off scheduling of WIFI via software.

It's there in parental control, much more versatile

new routers have to go into a sleep mode if not being used anyway

Thanks, but it is not actually wifi uptime scheduling. It is access scheduling which is a different thing entirely. I want to automatically switch Wifi off over a period of time (e.g. night time) which would reduce power consumption.

perhaps investigate thompson routers, i know the original hh was based on those so maybe the hh2 was as well.

wifi only transmits at 100mw 1/10 of a watt, so you'd never see a saving.
A router in it's entirety though uses on average 6 watts per day, so don't worry about
leaving the wifi on!
