I'm Moving on the 31st and have just found out there is no PlusNet FTTC at my new house in fact there is no BT line there..Gutted to say the least..

Anyways I do know there is Virgin fibre there, I have never been with Virgin before do they just do Fibre (no bt line rental etc.) and what sort of prices and experience deals etc advice needed please..

My PlusNet is 76mbps unlimited and is a joy to use without the worry of going over, what's the best package to take with Virgin?...

Virgin cable - best thing since sliced bread!! had in my last house for 14 years and only ever had 4 downtimes. Not the cheapest but always worth a haggle. they just kept doubling up my speeds for no extra cost. Most of their packages include telephone so you may have to pay line rental...not sure.
I now live in the stick and miss my 100Mb as I only get 7-8 on a good day...missing Virgine/cable.

Hope this helps. By the way try calling during the day as they appear to use "follow the sun" call centres.

I have broadband only, no phone, for £19 p/m. 50mbps from September, 30 just now and no restrictions on downloads. If you go on to there site and see what deals they have for new customers.I can refer you as a friend and you will get free installation worth £49.99 and I get the same deducted from my bill. You would have to pm me your name, phone no. and email address. I would forward it on and then they would contact you.

Tbh I don't think can fault VM broadband. Maybe not the cheapest but in my area I've had little downtime with faults. Just moved up to the highest tier 152mb and so far I'm hitting that spot on. Plus I'm sure there are no download limits now or traffic management like before. Only uploading is now managed!

Don't do virgin, very expensive, always hiking the prices up, very poor foreign customer service and call centers. I was with them for eleven years, and this year I had enough of the service always going down and them having an excuss not to fix it.

All companies put their prices up.
I've had Virgin broadband for probably around 8 years at a number of houses and had downtime twice. Friendly service every time I call them too.

Just want to say thanks for all your reply's...:D

So I'm looking at around £19 to £25 a month for 30/50mbps, No line rental which is a bonus...

As for the set up fee, I'm not paying nothing if they want my service....will they wave it?

One more question, what is there typical contract (I take it I will have one?) 12,18 or 24 month?.... Thanks all I'll update what I get when I move.

you could always have one installed, sky put my open reach line in for free! I was with virgin for 11 years but in February they had inflation busting price hikes taking my bill to over £100 per month and that included my £27 pm loyalty discount! Sky came knocking offered to put the line in, give me all the TV, 35mbps fibre broadband and phone unlimited for £37 pm however they messed up the broadband so gave a further discount of £10 pm taking my bill to £27 pm on a 12m contract. Virgin are just robbing gits. Every house where I lived used to be on virgin, but since February 95% of them have moved to sky for a decent deal!

Whats A Follow the sun call centre?

Anyway, OP I have Virgin Media and it's been great. Only been down like 4-6 times over 8+ years I've been with them and that's only down for like usually 1 hour ... most been down was 1 day but that was due to upgrading speeds in area. Also when it's down if you phone them they usually just knock £5 off your bill as goodwill. Awesome.

ATM I'm on 100mb but only thing wrong is the Wifi doesn't connect. Doesn't show up on any devices. Even with device next to router it says not in range ... going to call them tomorrow.

You won't be dissapointed with Virgin cable.

Everyone nowadays uses foreign call centres. In terms of Technical support virgin media uses foreign centres ... same as BT. In terms of customer services they use UK based centres. There retentions is based in Sheffield ... I believe the sales team is also based here and customer service too.

if you get a fault with virgin, you have to try to get someone who does not speak or understand English, to understand your problem, half the time their English is so bad you can't have the conversation and the line suddenly disconnects. With sky always get thru to a uk call center, and can communicate with them! At the end of the day the op has to decide if he want 18m of poor service and hassle, call center that won't understand him, or a hassle free service from a decent company! ( not necessarily sky)
