Advice On Getting A New PC

Hey,

I need your advice guys, Im currently looking for a new PC, that will run games (like sims 2, but doesnt need to have superb graphics, just good that runs without slow downs), media center that has a free vista upgrade (and can run it ok), and I want a dual core processor with a good size HDD.

So I have upgraded the C521 from here: http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&oc=D11C17
to the following specs:

AMD® Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 (Incl Operating System Re-installation CD)
MCE to Vista Premium Upgrade on: www.dellvistaupgrade.productorder.com before 03/31/07
1024MB Dual Channel DDR2 533MHz [2x512] Memory
160GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive with 8MB DataBurst™ cache
256MB ATI® Radeon® X1300 Pro PCI Express graphics card

That comes to £564.

Is that a good price for this spec and has it got enough power for my needs, or should I get a different pc.

Thanks in advance

Bryan

So you really want a Dell??..if so the new deals come out every Thursday and are usually posted on this site by the infamous MikeT.

I take it the above does not include a monitor?..I'm sure there are better deals around but my advice is see what comes up on Thursday and go from there....if you are open to other PCs other than Dell I'm sure someone will come up with a recommendation that will fit your requirements.

take a look at this link..seems a better deal...just require another 512 mb of ram from crucial to bring it up to spec.

The deal above does come with a monitor: a 19 inch dell value tft.

Sorry Bryan but in my rush I didn't read the thread properly and now see that you were involved.

If it were me I'd not be buying a new PC this near to the launch of vista...I'd rather wait til 2007 and have a PC with vista loaded and with the assurance that it will be to the spec required to run the software.

I know that's like telling a child not to open a packet of sweets until after Christmas but if you already have a working PC I suggest you hold fire.
