Hi All,

I am looking for some advice for a purchase I made on Aliexpress.

The item was just shy of £100 and was ordered on the 06/12/2016, a few days later the status was changed to dispatched and a shipping number was added. The shipping details never updated as the weeks went on and when clicking for more information the tracking number wasn’t recognised.

On the 31/12/2016 I opened up a dispute asking for a refund stipulating the tracking number was incorrect/false and that the I would like a refund as the item had not been delivered in the 20 days specified by the seller. The seller responded today asking to ‘wait for handle’ which I presume means wait a bit longer. I have now the option to accept or reject the case, with Ali Express being able to step in on the 07/01/2017 it’s only a couple of days but do I reject/accept or ignore the message until this Saturday?

I don’t want to jeopardise my chances of getting the refund I am entitled to by clicking the wrong button.

I have ordered 100’s of items from Aliexpress with some being ordered after this one so with the false shipping number I can only presume it’s not been sent/lost. The seller has positive feedback so it could be genuinely delayed.

Has anyone ever had this and what would your advice be?

It sometimes takes a month and more to get order delivered. I have ordered hundreds of items from AliExpress. Just be patient and you receive your order. Don't forget many sellers post orders once a week in China.

I had the same issue with the tracking number not showing anything after a month. I rejected the sellers request and AliExpress came back and said tracking number not valid and gave a full refund. The item never turned up.

I usually wait 6-8 weeks for orders from China, and the tracking numbers aren't too reliable. Personally I'd give it a little longer.

as long as ur protection is still active you will be ok. I am an avid ali express fan and I'm still waiting for something I ordered 11th November. I've had items take 2 months before .but if the tracking number is drawing blanks .maybe u want to escalate the claim... if they promised 30 days for delivery

It's not entirely realistic to expect your item to reach here if you had ordered on 6th of December, especially when you consider the fact during Christmas, shipping usually takes a bit longer.

Regarding the fake shipping number, well that's unfortunately a very common practice undertaken by most sellers on AliExpress when they don't have immediate units to dispatch. What they tend to do is 'mark as shipped' with a fake shipping number and actually send out the item much later.

In regards to what I think you should do. In my opinion, you should have waited until the "On-time Delivery
60 (or 40) days" have passed or you were close to it. But now that you have started a dispute, I still think you should give it a bit more time, but what you have to do is to ask for extension.

So basically, ask the seller to have two weeks extension for the dispute, seller initiate that extra time, then you can accept it. What this does is an assurance that you still have a chance to reopen your dispute for a refund before that two extra weeks are passed.

So I think you should wait a couple more weeks, and if the item doesn't show up by then, then take it to AliExpress if the seller rejects a refund (you can make AliExpress involved with your case as long as you have 'your order/dispute will be closed in' message) .

By the way, I also have an item being purchased on exactly that date, but I will give it two more weeks before opening a dispute myself.

Get you money back and then if the item turns up pay the seller. I've been messed around a couple of times.

Thanks for all your advice, maybe I was bit premature in putting the request through but I was worried that the purchase protection was running out.

I cant see the option for an extension, I can only see the option to reject or accept the dispute. Am I right in thinking that either option would prevent me from opening a second dispute if the item didn't turn up?

Would it be an idea to ignore the update until this Saturday and let Aliexpress join in?

I agree with mrman007. This has happened to me earlier as an item didn't arrive by the sellers promised time, so i opened the dispute and the seller told me to pay if I receive the item later. I received the item a week after I received the refund, contacted the seller and paid him via PayPal.

Do you no longer have the option which says "to extend the Buyer Protection for this order, please click here.". You can also ask the seller for extension if that option is no longer there as you have now opened a dispute already.

Extension ensure that you're still very much protected by AliExpress, while giving the seller a bit more time before making a rash decision.

Otherwise, you're absolutely free to do what some here have suggested by asking for a refund (and pay later if the item shows up).

Basically these are your two best options, but one (mine) involves giving the seller the benefit of the doubt, while the other is trying to minimise risks that may incur to you through this transaction.

That seems to be the general consensus, I am more than happy to pay for the item as and when/if it arrives. Its not the sellers fault that it has been delayed but its not my fault that it hasn't arrived. I think I will wait until the 07th and then reject the request if it hasn't arrived by then.

Unless someone advises me that its not the best course of action???
