Hi,

I have been looking for an all-in-one Multifunction Inkjet Printer. I have had a good look round and have not quite found what I am looking for. I found a very good Canon PIXMA MP610 printer, which is available at £107.96 on ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132440 but unfortunately it does not come with a 'flat bed' scanning facility nor wireless functions, which is a real shame.

I am looking for something that is economical to print in colour, which the canon is at only 2.51p per black and white page and 5.66p in colour. This came from http://www.trustedreviews.com/printers/review/2007/09/21/Canon-PIXMA-MP610/p4 .

There are a number of Lexmark printers on offer, but they are working out at about 25p - 50p per colour page, which is a lot more than the canon!!

Basically, I want an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier with the following:
* Flat bed scanning
* Wireless capabilities (as there will be 3 computers using it).
* Economical prints in colour & black and white.

I'm willing to pay up to £150ish for the right printer. Hope someone can help, but no worries if not.

Thanks

I just had a look at the canon you were looking at on ebuyer, i bouth the canon pixma mp600 from ebuyer last year & this looks exactly the same. It does have a flat bed to scan/copy on it & i can tell you that they are great printers : ) If you look at the photo on the web page you can see from the side of the printer that the whole of the lid lifts up which is where the copier part is....

seen this a while back on here http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132443 is about £40 don't know about if its a flat bed tho, i also heard canon are giving £20 cashback making the printer only £20 and amazons price is the same as ebuyers as far as i remember so what you can also do is phone pc world get a price match as they are charging £65 then you claim cashback from canon.

i myself use a lexmark X1180 cartridges arn't cheap tho but its a flat bed, i actually use a canon Pixma IP5000 for printing its a discontinued model due to the fact they didn't chip the cartridges so cheap compatibles with good printing results are easy to find although the printer cost a couple hundred when i bought it.

Pity you hadn't seen the Argos add last week . They were selling the Canon Pixma MP460 for £24.99.I believe this is an all in one printer/scanner etc . I actually reserved one on-line and collected it the next day as I thought it was such a bargain .It hasn't been out of the box yet . One day ................

Try this at only £28.48 delivered. It also comes with full carts instead of the starter ones you normally get. Not the cheapest refills but at less than £30 you are pretty much getting the printer for free.

If using if for vista on wifi you need to download the software form Olivetti's website.

Looking out for something similar too and so rather than create yet another thread I thought it better to canvass opinion in here.

Trying to work out which is best to go for.

HP 5280 - circa £66 online (could pricematch at pcworld for lower still as they have it for £129) so low price. Downside is that it is noisey when scanning and uses single tri-colour cartridge.
HP5180 - Circa £68 online. (No pricematch as PCworld don't stock it). Uses separate colour cartridges, has ethernet port, but already coming up to 1yr since it was announced.

Other thoughts are Canon as MP520/MP610 both use separate cartridges and seem to get good reviews

PCWorld/Dixons/Currys seem to stock MP470 which appears to be a USA product??? What is the spec on the MP470? Looks nothing like the mp460 so doesn't appear to be a revision of that? It looks to be the same price i.e. £80 and styling as the Canon mp520 and hence is it the same spec?

On a personal level I am moving away from Epson as last two have both given up the ghost printing. 1st one (colour 680 i think), broke internally on its feeding mechanism spewing out a piece of plastics in the process. 2nd one a cx5400, has stopped printing red and blue colours despite trying headcleaning/nozzle checks ad inifitum along with complete new sets of cartridges.

Help please :)

Hi,

Thanks for your advise everyone. After cheerleader kindly pointed out that the Canon MP610 does actually have a flat bed scanner i have since decided to buy this one. I got a really good price on www.oyyy.co.uk for £108.24, which also happens to stock the cheapest 'original' canon cartridges for £7.29 each, or even cheaper if you buy one of their bundles of cartrides.

You can buy compatible cartridges for less, but you will have to fiddle about with the chips that canon install, in order for the printer to except them. This will also disable the ink level sensors, so you won't know how much ink is left.

Really good scanning and printing spec for the money and every site i visited had good review after good review. Fingers crossed it will live up to my expectations. Mine should be arriving Saturday.

Cheers:thumbsup:

Same here! I have the Epson CX5400. The black is not printing well and creates faint area of lines on certain area of the paper despite numerous nozzle cleaning.

After a few hours research and the good reviews on the Canon MP610, I ordered one today on Ebuyer for £107 with free delivery. I have lost faith in Epson after reading so many bad reviews and problems regarding the ink clogging up in the tubes and print head. Hope this Canon printer does not have this problem.
