I have a fire stick which is brilliant, you need pretty good Internet to go with it and a half decent router, im using the best option talktalk. Can't speak for Android boxes though. AGK fire is a must have app for pushing kodi to the fire stick easily via your Android phone.

I am considering upgrading to one of those "Nvidia" games consoles at £150. Their website reckons it's the best Kodi experience

NVIDIA SHIELD is an amazing Ultra HD streaming media player, delivering incredible resolution in favorite apps like Netflix* 4K and YouTube 4K, YouTube, KODI (XBMC), and PLEX. Vivid 10-bit color and rich Dolby 7.1 surround sound** make this a true home theater experience. Or plug your headphones into your SHIELD controller or SHIELD remote*** for a private listening experience.

Good point I'd like to make about Fire Stick/Kodi, I recently tried to change from stereo to 5.1 in the sound settings to run through my amp, but it doesn't seem to be able to handle it.

Have you tried connecting the stick straight into the amp? Worked for me after not getting any sound at all.

start of the year I bought the missus a M8S Amlogic S812 droid box
it's fantastic, does everything.
would still thoroughly recommend, especially as it's a little bit cheaper now than when I bought :-)

Ive got the Amazon Fire TV Box and a MXQ Box, both have their merits. I find the Amazon Fire TV a lot easier to sideload Android Stuff compared to the MXQ.

You don't have to sideload on the MXQ, it has google play built in...
It will also install apk's directly without any messing about like the firestick, the other firestick issue is that amazon could block kodi at any point.

android box!
Easier to use, easier to update

I have both and I prefer the Fire Stick, its simple to use and I really like the remote, I know you can get other remotes for the boxes but I always seemed to have problems with them.

I use it every day for Kodi and the WWE Network and also for the BBC Iplayer and it seems quicker than my box so I have put the box in the bedroom and use the fire stick as my main one now.

I have both a fire stick and a minix android box. The minix box is a far better box but costs three times the fire stick.

yeah I have it in my amp, but if you change the settings in Kodi to 5.1, it doesn't like streaming anymore. I never restarted Kodi etc. I'll try again.

I had Sky before which made my Chromecast unusable. I was going to put it on EBay. Now, My phone+ Allshare cast+ Showbox+ Chromecast = Awesomeness in the Bedroom!

Cartoon HD is another good app to put on your Android box, stand alone app, not part of Kodi

So far I've had the cheap M8 quad core android boxes, the Amazon Fire TV Box and Fire Stick.
I keep going back to my Raspberry Pi 2 which runs Xbian with Kodi as it seems the best.

I found the cheap Chinese boxes rubbish and not worth bothering with.
Both the Amazon Fire box and stick can offer choppy performances at times.
The Fire Box isn't worth the money over the fire stick unless you're going to plug it into a surround sound amp via optical cable.

On the other hand, I'm toying with the idea of getting one of those Widows micro computers to act as all singing and dancing hub which the Rp2 is crap at being
