If I buy a second hand item from someone and they include the original Amazon receipt. Would I be able to use Amazon's gift return system if I had a problem with the item?

I know it's possibly against their terms, but would it work? How would they know it wasn't a gift?

Just trying to cover myself if the item develops a fault.

you jay be able to but they will want to send any replacement or refund to the original purchaser. alternatively you may be able yo go to the manufacturer

This suggests otherwise to the comments above. There's no issue withan Amazon gift being returned and any refund (to gift credit) would go to the account that it in the return (ie. Me) and it wouldn't need any input from the original purchaser. But how will the fact that it's a second hand purchase rather than a gift affect things?

As I say, my feeling is Amazon couldn't/wouldn't know so it will be fine. But wonder if anyone has any experience of this scenario.

seems it should be fine. if u have the proof it was purchased from them and looking into what u have posted above. even though hat doesn't talk about faulty items but it should still be fine. I always thought as long as u have the receipt for a item it would not matter whom buys it as the warranty is for a the item it doesn't be a warranty on a personal basis like a rac breakdown cover or something which may cover a person. how can they refuse the claim just because someone else has put the claim in as long as there's proof they shouldn't reject it.
