I think you might be onto something;)

Handed something in to collect plus pm Friday, refund email with in the hour and will probably hot my card Wednesday. Probably depends on the return process used and the reason for return. M

Of course things take longer but not 2-3 weeks plus 5-7 days on top.
I have just looked at their returns policy and it now states 2-3 weeks .If its due to xmas then it would be simple to state that. I bet its more to do with making profit and stopping people from returning items.2-3 weeks can now mean you will pay interest on a credit card. I would argue that if you are returning an item due to fault or incorrect description that this is not acceptable.

Might have something to do with Amazon losing an absolute fortune (probably milions of £££) with people scamming them on refunds.
Its about time they did something, although genuine customers will suffer

"stopping people from returning items"

Havent they just increased it until February 1st?

"I bet its more to do with making profit "

Company wanting to make profit? How strange

" now mean you will pay interest on a credit card"

No you wont

"I would argue that if you are returning an item due to fault or incorrect description that this is not acceptable."

100% correct, i purchased 2 items from amazon warehouse and the boxes were to damaged to give as gifts, had an online chat with them and after having abit of a moan they said they could process a refund straight away or give me amazon gc balance so i could repurchase both items as new (so they make more profit ;) )

It is good customer service that brings customers back. Making other customers suffer will lose them more than millions. I shop there because they have no hassle returns when things go wrong and because of that have spent thousands with them over the years.

I agree, I have only had one issue with Amazon and it was a warehouse item (a router) I bought and was falsely advertised as having USB 3.0 and being new. It was not new and in fact had USB 2. They kept saying they must have sent the wrong item and on doing research I found there was no such USB 3 version. They did not listen about a USB 3 version not existing and wouldn't change their falsely advertised page. I also remember return took longer for a warehouse item. So I don't buy from warehouse anymore.

I have always used warehouse for their great deals and discounts but it is a warehouse item that I have returned due to it being wrongly advertised and at a cost of £400, Im not happy to wait so long for a refund because they didnt advertise it correctly and as pointed out earlier by 2minutenoodles they still dont change the description of these items. I even sent them proof from the manufacturer who confirmed to me by email that their description was wrong but nothing changed.

How much discount did they offer if you kept it?

Have you actually had an online chat with them, and explained about the money - as there pretty good - im sure if i was in the same situation then id be able to get a refund out of them before they recieve the item back,.

also remember 2-3 weeks is just them covering themselves, how many days has it been since they recieved the item back?

Dont be surprised if you get your legitimate account cancelled at some time in the future for returning items.

Its not scaremongering, its a fact. Just because youve never had an issue doesnt mean its doesnt happen
Its their policy to leave items on doorsteps rather than make a second delivery. Chance amazon take whether you get the item or not, or someone steals it. I guess the risk outweighs the losses.

I had two items taken from my doorstep, nothing of real value. Account was closed due to their account abuse policy.

iirc correctly, it was even on watchdog

Just received emails from Amazon stating that returns process now takes 2-3 weeks after I complained I havent received a refund . Thats just ridiculous. 2-3 weeks to process the return then another 5-7 days for the refund to show up in the account. It used to be a few days of receiving the item back.

How did you pay?

I've just checked their refund policy and it shows the following:

How Refunds Are Issued
Most refunds are issued based on the payment method used at the time of purchase. In some cases, you may be offered an "Instant refund" option.

If you want to use your refund without waiting for your return to process, you can select the instant refund option, if it's available. Instant refunds are either refunded to your credit card or issued as an Amazon.co.uk Gift Card balance, depending on the instant refund type you selected. You'll still need to return your items within 30 days.

Might have something to do with Amazon losing an absolute fortune (probably milions of £££) with people scamming them on refunds.
Its about time they did something, although genuine customers will suffer
It is good customer service that brings customers back. Making other customers suffer will lose them more than millions. I shop there because they have no hassle returns when things go wrong and because of that have spent thousands with them over the years.
That maybe true, but they also have a ridiculous returns policy that people have been scamming for years.
Dont be surprised if you get your legitimate account cancelled at some time in the future for returning items.
ive returned dozens of items and never had a problem
no need to scare monger

Its not scaremongering, its a fact. Just because youve never had an issue doesnt mean its doesnt happen
Its their policy to leave items on doorsteps rather than make a second delivery. Chance amazon take whether you get the item or not, or someone steals it. I guess the risk outweighs the losses.
I had two items taken from my doorstep, nothing of real value. Account was closed due to their account abuse policy.
iirc correctly, it was even on watchdog
Dont you know fattyuk is an expert on Amazon returns. fattyuk never has a problem and will get a refund even before they have returned the item to Amazon, how can you argue with that. ;)

Exact;y

:)

also - i dont really believe that someone had there account closed because they had 2 items stolen from there doorstep

if it dont make sense it cant be believed.
