Amsterdam!

Hi guys.

Booking to go back to Amsterdam in March. I have 3 questions!

1) Are there any easyjet codes floating about?

2) What do easyjet mean by "1 Hold bag(s) per flight". Is this just hand luggage and can it be removed?

3) We are looking at cheap accommodation near the RLD. Does anyone have any recommendations with links to their website so we can try to arrange something.

Thanks if you can answer any of my questions!

:)

The Victoria is nice, but not v cheap if you can only get the published rates ... but it's got a nice bar and good food: http://www.parkplazaamsterdam.com/
And close to the RLD ... and the main train station, so you can make a sharp exit afterwards :-)

Try direct to see what discount they can offer you - then trawl through tripadvisor to see what the main companies can offer pricewise:

I guess easyjet mean a maximum of 1 bag in the plane's hold per person - this is to cut down flight turnaround times. So no, it's the opposite of hand luggage.

Have a great time :-)

Thanks for replying Melissa.

Nice hotel, but too expensive, were really looking for a cheap and cheerful hostel where we wont get robbed or beaten up.

So the hold bag is essential as were going for 3 days. O well!

Thanks

eh? 3 days - you can cope with just carry on -
day 1: pants normally
day 2: pants inside out
day 3: pants back to front and inside out
with 1 days worth of wear left, or to be used in case of accident or emergency

seriously. have men not heard of capsule wardrobes? you can do 3 days in 1 bag if you think carefully (and wear lots of layers on the flight!!)

If you look at the hotels focused on the business traveller you can get some great bargains at the weekend, as they are usually quieter then.
And much safer than a hostel full of stoned/mushroomed up yanks.

We usually go there for the New years. We have 5 days (28th December - 2 January) there. New years eve in Dam Square is awesome.

Not going this year :(

The best place we have stayed in is the Krasnapolsky, but cheap it isn't.
Well worth it though.

Another option we do is to rent out an apartment. There is one just down from The Grand on the opposite side of the canal. Can't remember the name, but it works out at about 100 euro's a night during New year time so will prob be alot cheaper in March.

I guess looking at www.hotels.nl is a good place to start.

Sorry I couldn't advise on anywhere real cheap.

We stay in the Bulldog, right on the edge of the red light.

Double rooms are around £60, inc breakfast. Bar is open 24 hours downstairs, where you can drink & have a smoke !!

Very safe & secure

Thats the one mate - it's classed as a 5 star hostel, we stay there every year.

You need security cards to get into the actual building, reception is manned 24/7 & they have security on the doors.

Twin rooms are decent as well

Repping everyone that helped, thanks.

We stayed here: http://www.winston.nl/ some of the rooms have crazy decoration but most are normal. It's pretty cheap too think it worked out about 18 pound a night. Id recommend the hotel its bang in the middle of RLD clean and you can smoke throughout.

Hope this helps if you haven't already booked!
