I have a pair of large antique mantelpiece cherubs I would like to get valued does anyone know of any good online sites that give free antique valuations or has anyone used one that they could recommend? Thank you.

I'm in Southampton not sure about any local auction houses near me I was just hoping to find their value online first.

I've been told the cherubs are German and done in either Meissen or Dresden but there are no signatures or makers marks. Around 25 years ago I saw the same cherubs in an antique book which said they were German and then worth £500, unfortunately now one of the cherubs wing has broken off (we still have it) and the other one has a small crack just below the wing, yesterday I got a free valuation estimate from McTear's and they said £30-£60 which I don't believe is correct so I was just wondering if anyone knows of any other places I could try.

free valuation is worth what you pay for it.

For a real valuation you need to go to a specialist and expect to pay a fee. Other than that try a museum or gallery

Heres a phone number for bonhams give them a ring and say you could send them a pic to see if its worth getting them professionally repaired
