Any good suggestions for a Desktop PC

Hello,

I've been looking for a new Desktop PC for over a year now.

Because I don't know much about computers myself, I am really struggling to find a fair priced one for what I want.

I have been stung before, so need to find a good place to buy from that have good cust service after I have the computer.

I have about £500 - 600 for computer and monitor.

I keep mulling over the Acer one that is £469, on tesco direct http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.204-6345.aspx

with the samsung monitor http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Widescreen-Monitor-Black-20000/dp/tech-data/B0016CIN2S/ref=de_a_smtd
But have to be sure I am getting good deal as that would be abit above my budget.

I mainly use the PC for browsing internet, listening to music, storing and printing photos, downloading and want to be able to try Warhammer online.

Can anyone offer some good advice please?

Thanks in advance for any replies
Leon

I think that Acer is WAY over spec for what you want.

Quad Core !!!
1.2 Terabyte hard drive !!!!

This Dell at £348 would probably do you fine.

Not sure about the graphics as I dont play games. If in doubt you could always select the better graphics card at £60 more (HD3450).

That takes it to £408 including delivery.

try ebay lad get it alot cheaper go to the ones who have shops and 100% feedback i get 60% off ebayers. if u get an old dell or hp say 6 months or 1 year old it will take more memory(on ebay) better graphics card (on net) around 300-400

The default graphics are poor and the cards are way overpriced (the 3450 is a £25 card, and I wouldn't pay £60 for the 3650).

Hey,

Thanks for the replies so far.

I do need a half decent graphics card so that I can play an online game, possibly warhammer online, LOTR online or star wars old republic when it is released.

Ebay could be an idea, problem being my poor knowledge when choosing, prehaps my local PC shop is a decent option.

I am just over cautious about being ripped off, because I got a PC last time which I had no end of problems with which I purchased from the Tiny website.

Chuckles- Thanks for the offer but would prefer to buy from shop or company who will offer after sale help in case I have problems :)

I was talking about getting it from a shop, but I spose you mean getting it all in one go, hope you find one :)

For £500 to £600 you could buy some mean piece of kit, probably overkill for what you want, the beauty of a desktop is that you can upgrade as you see fit .....

This has been about for a bit, seems like a deal :

Monitor, I bought this and very happy .....

I also bought a reclusa keyboard, very nice

and the recent logitech mouse deal on this forum
looks good,
