Got a bit of spare cash coming in and it's inevitably burning a hole in my pocket, so i'm looking at maybe investing in a VPN provider. My regular income is fairly limited, so I don't really want to commit myself to any kind of regular outgoing, so if there's any good VPN providers you know of, or might use, where I can pay a one-off fee to get "lifetime" access i'd certainly be interested.

let me kno which one you go for mate. looking for the same really but you never how some of these services operate. I'd ideally want to go with a more established service. Ive heard good things about PIA.

Yeah, will do. I'm going to go through them later on and look for reviews and opinions. I'm not a massive torrent user but I do use them, so ideally they'll allow them but also have solid connections for streaming.

can this vpn also just mask your IP address so ISP's don't know which sites I go on? I use iptv as my main source of sports watching and I just want something Reliable that will just mask WHERE I BROWSE.

Wilders security forum has an ongoing discussion of the better vans. Most are bad.

Hi, Im not very tech knowledgeable but ve heard about vpn on here but I'm not really sure why people need them. Do you get into trouble if you are watching things like showbox, kodi etc, without one of these?

Have you thought about setting up your own VPN? fairly simple to do, and as secure as a secure thing from secureville also probably cheaper than a lifetime sub, various ways to do it, loads of info on web

I took out a lifetime licence on some software. it was fine until they were bought up by a large software company. they simply renamed the software so the 'lifetime' died. I lost on the deal in the end.

My usage actually isn't that great, but I think it's a service i'd rather have than not have really, especially while i've got the spare cash to do it with.

I think you have to email them specifically for manual kodi settings which i'll do, but I also need to work out the best solution for my NAS drive because turning on the VPN actually causes problems connecting to that as I discovered earlier.

With a vpn can you set a location of your choice manually or keep changing your ip location

you can choose any location you like and set it however you like.

with vpn unlimited, the pc application will list the locations available and also, which is quite handy, whether or not they specifically allow torrents.

There are plenty of free ones but they will obviously be hampered by the fact they're free so you may not get the best speeds or connections or any number of things that go with offering free bandwith.

I don't want use VPN on torrent sites right ;)

I do use torrents, don't get me wrong, but this wasn't exclusively about that.

Anyway, I've bought the lifetime deal with VPN unlimited and i'm quite happy with that.

So how "dangerous" is it not using one then?oO

It's no more or less "dangerous" than using the internet in general IMO. i've been online for a very long time without one and haven't been visited by the men in black yet ..

Just to show how little ( or nothing) I know...
I thought they just hid you.
How does hiding you affect speed? oO

Well it's still a little above my pay grade as well, but since you're obviously routing your traffic through another server then the speed may well take a hit.

On another side note, as a customer of SSE with their "Ultra Fast" (*cough*) Fibre connection, I did test out a torrent about an hour ago at a time when SSE usually cripple torrent traffic. Fired up the VPN manager and chose a location in Europe that was flagged as allowing torrent traffic and lo and behold, I got full download speed without any traffic management.

Another reason I'm happy with my purchase :)
