Any recomendations for an HD media player ?

I've been waiting for Blu ray players that can be deregion'd and that'll play HD divx/xvid but that's looking further and further away.
I've been looking at HD media players which seem to do everything I'd want (play downloaded US tv shows in 720p and 1080i for my wife to watch).
I thought they'd be just afew !! How wrong can you be...

Anyone have one they can recommend, doesn't need to come with a hard drive I've got a few spares both ide and sata. It just need to be fairly upgradable. . .

Are there any with DVD drives ? Most for the models I've seen have a usb and hd bay but no optical drive ??

Popcorn Hour NMT - http://www.popcornhour.com/

Plays most things you can throw at it (720/1080p mkv, avi, etc), add a hard drive and away you go.

The UI ain't pretty, but there is a (near enough) monthly firmware update which is improving it.

Pay by Google, they come direct from China by DHL, cost about £120 including all import taxes when I bought mine earlier this year - probably a bit more expensive now.

I've looked at these and they seem amazing !!

One question, do you think if you had a dvd drive in a usb enclosure it would play through one of these if the disc had xvid/divx files on it ?

There is an option in the menu system for CD/DVD, but I don't have an external CD/DVD drive to test it.

It will pick up external drives easy enough though - so I **assume** it will just be treat the data disc the same.

It might be already answered on AV Forums

:) I'm ahead of you there. I've just asked the question on their popcorn hour thread (which I'm now reading through, but its 101 pages !!! so may take some time...)
