Anyone bought the uswitch deal special for Life Mobile?

My EE contract ends on 02.10.2016 and I am looking to switch to the special deal that is currently available on uswitch of 1000 minutes + 1.5GB of data for £5.95 per month.

However, I note that a comparable tariff, if you went direct to the Life Mobile website costs £7.45 per month, which gives 1000 minutes but only 1GB of data. I am therefore concerned that after taking out the contract with uswitch, Life Mobile increase the cost after the 30 days as it is a rolling 30 days contract, technically speaking, Life Mobile can increase the price after the 30 days.

Anyone actually bought a 30 day uswitch special contract with Life Mobile and not had a price hike after the initial 30 days?

No they won't increase the price it will stay at the price you get it for for the foreseeable future
Possible they could increase it in the distant future

I've been with Life Mobile since November and I recommend them :)

If they do increase the price cut your losses and cancel, nothing ventured nothing gained , its hardly going to break the bank if your serving your 30 day notice

I have taken out 4 of these contracts through uswitch and the longest has been running 6 months, there has been no price rise.

The only slight downside of Life is you cannot text short text numbers or premium rate text numbers with them, other than that no issues at all.

Absolutely fine where I am in the South East, 3 of the contracts were for my kids (older teenagers) and if there was any issues at all they would have let me know.

On a couple of android phones I had to manually put in the APN settings, no problem though 2 minute job.

Lifes coverage will be the same, as they are both EE companys, we have taken 3 sims with them, one number port went through in less than 24 hours, the other two one 5 days the other 6. the second one had everything but data after 24 hours, the other one could only dial out until Life fixed it.

if you have any issues with data not working at the beginning, if you have an iPhone don't let them tell you the APN needs changing, even though Life have APN settings on their website they don't activate that setting on the iPhone. If yours is an iPhone ask them if it could be the profile of your previous company still on the phone, once this is deleted it should work.

I have android phone. Doesn't sound that great from your experience. I never had problem with sim from ee, vodafone, o2 . All worked immediately. Port number always done next day without a glitch.

Were the 3 numbers you port over come from different providers as they all took different time?

all the original numbers were with the same provider, I would say that I did a lot of googling and it seems issues are frequent across all companies :(

Yes this is annoying, I was gonna enter text competitions that charge the price of a standard text but now cannot. Is there any way to allow texting short numbers?

Exactly what I like to do, text a local radio station which is normal text rate, to get around it I use a second sim in my phone which is on the 3 PAYG network and select that sim to send these texts from at 2p each.

This is also handy because the 3 sim has free 200mb a month of data on it, so if I am running low on life mobile I switch the data to the 3 sim as well to get the free data.

I also ported 2 numbers with my life sims and both went exactly as they should have I did not need to change the APN settings on an IPhone 5s or a windows phone.
Hope it helps guys.

Good to know. They sound fine. So should be ok for me. They are certainly very good value for money.

You mentioned that one sim took 5 days to port. During those 5 days, were you able to continue using old sim as well as the new one? I wouldn't want to be without the use of my old number for 5 days.

We could make calls on the one that took the longest but not receive them, but could texts but no data. Other one that took the next longest was ok for calls and text but data took longer to sort out.

I had a good read around on porting issues and it's not only life that has issues seems to be right across the board, it either goes smoothly and no one shouts about it or there are issues on all providers. It's just something you need to be aware of just in case :(

Sounds bad. One of my sim is my main phone so i need that number to work without a glitch. May have to take a chance and hope for the best.
