Don't PANIC, 25 is high but not dangerous as long as you test for key-tones and it's negative you do not need to call or visit a&e, you'll be wasting their time and yours. Feeling sleepy is just one symptom of Hyperglycemia (hyper high, hypo low) and is usually one of the last symptoms you would experience. Normal progression would be extreme unquenchable thirst, abdomen pains, heavy sweating (though not necessarily a temperature) ,burning when you pee and urine that smells sweet or fruity. So if you are testing negative for key-tones do not eat anything further tonight, try and drink a couple of glasses of water and then give you're GP surgery a call in the morning.

They should have a diabetic nurse there who can do the necessary. She'll want to do a blood test and depending on how long and dose of metformin you are on will determine the treatment options.

You do sound like you need some advice about keeping you're blood sugars down. Diet is the most important but its not just about sugars as its as much to do with carbohydrates and exercise.

I am very surprised that they have even asked you to test you're sugar levels as you are only taking metformin. The reason being that unless you have had the proper training you do not really know how to interpret the readings and what factors effect them.

Do you have ketone testing for your urine if so I would do this and test for ketones if u are positive for ketone then get to hospital.

If you don't but you are feeling really unwell maybe call your our of hours doctor?

My mum used to be 21 -24 so now she is on tabs and injection. Injections is 3 times a day and she's on many many tablets.
You need to stop sugary foods.

Lowest hi po is 4. So your sugars are very very high. You need to visit your gp ASAP not the hospital unless you Andre bad.

The doctor should adjust your medicals.

My mum has laser in her eyes now because she can't control it some times

I hope diabetes stops ...... Full stop

You should go to the hospital straight away.
Although you shouldn't panic, a count that high could be a sign that something else is wrong.
Someone close to me had a count that high and needed an immediate change in their medication.
They were also kept in hospital to be monitored for 2 nights.

Every situation is different, so like I said, do not panic. However, its better safe than sorry. Its also better to have peace of mind.
My advise: Call a cab and get down to the hospital.

once you have got your blood sugar levels to more normal range , there is a diabetes online forum , google it and i think you may get some really good information and also discuss with others in same boat , i have learned a lot from some of the posts and highly recomend.

Ask the doctor to send you to a dietician, there's so many foods that send your sugar zooming up
