The inevitable happened. The G4 I bought on a good deal in Vodafone in store is stuck on bootloop.
I have managed to recover pics and vids plus some contacts and now I will give it another try to just reset it and then claim warranty. For those wondering how I managed to partially use it to recover: zip it in a bag, leave it in the freezer without the backplate for an hour. Connect the cable and try to live it in the freezer, it should turn on and you have about 30 minutes to save your data.
there is another option , heating it with a hair dryer but I recommend the first.

Now...what do I do now? How do I claim warranty? contact vodafone? if so how? in store or chat, email? or contact Lg directly?
Will I get a new phone or they will repair it?

Maybe one last question, if I get a new phone, I feel like I won't want to keep it; and would sell and buy something else. What is a similar spec phone to be a successor of this one?

contacted lg directly. faffed around for ages but ended up getting a g5 around 8 weeks in total

Happened to my phone last week but I had purchased mine sim free. Contacted LG and they arranged for it to be dropped off in a locker. From reading what others have said on other forums I can expect to wait a couple of months which is pretty poor from LG.

Did you get a G5 to replace the G4 directly from LG? Or was it from your network provider?
Thanks

right so it look I can go either way, would be interested to find out which on is the fastest way and better.
I'd love to get a new one, that way I can sell it and buy something else...LG really messed up with this one.
Eire og did LG give you the g5?

The locker was just a place at my local Morrisons that it was convenient to drop my phone off at to send back to LG. They are a company called Inpost.

I took mine into a vodafone store... they kept it for 2 weeks and sent it back repaired... unfortunately it was my old phone and not a new one...

Having read the vodafone forum about this issue I will try to contact LG directly. It looks like people had their repair refused because of dents in the case and corrosion which are normal for a 1 year old phone.
At least LG knows and released a statement about this motherboard fault. Fingers crossed! Thanks all!
