Has anyone had DFS leather care insurance?

Ordered a 3 + 2 seater leather suite from DFS and got the thicker deluxe leather too. But when I got the paperwork through they had pumped on a £25 for the care kit and £175 for a 5 year leather care insurance. Itbhas a last of things that if spilt on it then the will replace the "affected area". But just wondered if this is actually worth the money or whether its a waste. Hs anyone had to use it before?

Also what really gets up my goat is the fact that none of the advisors on the phone told me they had added this on. Which I think is shocking because if I hadn't checked paperwork I would have been paying them extra! Quite disgusting really! Might just make a complaint about that while I'm at it come to think of it!

wear and tear most likely wont be included. can see what else can go wrong within 5 years do u. i would get a refund most of these insurances will never get used and its a quick earner for the sale team as they will get commission on the sale of the insurance.

I have used it and claimed successfully. The seat cushion leather started chipping/cracking on the edge and in the section between the seat and the bottom of the sofa. They came out replaced all the cushions fillings and leather section at the bottom and re-plumped all the cushions with a machine all in my home, no need for it to be sent away. Most if the time I wouldn't take out this instance but I was paying a lot for the sofa I decided to and on that occasion it paid off. Depends on how much you are paying for sofa as to whether you get a refund.

True. Mind, it surely can't be that bad with this super duper deluxe option.

I've had my sofas for 7 years, I've got two kids under 5 and no damage other than snotters and food.

Just got off the phone with my home insurance people and they say I'm covered with the exact same. Well we only went with the deluxe one as we looked at it when we were in store and it was a lot thicker. Looking into how to get that taken off now. Will still be making a complaint as I didn't ask for it and I was never told about it.

No as I looked at it instore then ordered via the phone when I to home. No application was done instore and luckily I read the contract when it came thought the post, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed it.

we had one we took out with harveys for 5 years i think. well after the first month of having the suite the arm broke and we had to call them out to repair however it is nearly 6 years old and we havent had to use the extra warranty at all the suite has slightly gone down where hubbie sits all the time he refuses to sit anyone else however it is still sturdy and in very good condition.

I bought a "leather" sofa from DFS - took up the 5 years "leather" care and, 4 years later the sofa started peeling off, called the custemer service number provided on the insurance, the guy did come to visit and assess: he said the problem was not covered by the insurance as it was considered "wear and tear" therefore nothing was done.
I live on my own, I have no pets. This means a DFS sofa starts to peel off and crack after 4 years and that's normal? Now my sofa is 7 years old and where I rest my head, on one of the arm cuscions, the "leather" has completelly teared apart, there are big holes It is not "leather" A leather sofa should last ages, develop creases, yes, but not tear apart like this. Stay away from DFS. Their custemer service is pathetic to say the least.

I got the insurance out with dfs it was well worth it,it doesn't cover wear and tear but what insurance does people are deluded if they think it would on any product. Looked after leather will last years, take responsibility. As for just putting it on read your paperwork before it is delivered the warranty is on the front and not in small print

I've just ordered a leather sofa from DFS - the insurance was £95. The sofa £849. The guy said what it covered and what it didn't, and all the details have been e mailed to me - so I know what I'm paying for. Not many insurance companies cover 'wear and tear' anyway. Luckily mine is 'ivory' so it shouldn't fade. £95 over 5 years doesn't sound a bad deal. Anyway - it's only money.

Well I didn't go for the insurance but I called them out as a corner of the leather had worn away and as it was under two years he came and sorted it. Also frame and springs are covered for ten years.
