I've used one about six years ago. No problem using it.
Just make sure you know what locations are included and compare the cost of the pass, to the cost of visiting those locations separately.
If the pass works out cheaper, go for it.

I collected my pass from one of the London offices, but to save time, it might be possible to buy the pass in advance and have it delivered to Canada.
Otherwise, you/they might waste a few hours, going to the office and queueing.
Check the opening times of the offices, so you're first in the queue, if collecting in person.

Also use Citymapper https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.citymapper.app.release
To work out how long it takes to get from one location to the next and what transport to use.
