Since VR was announced as a 'thing' it's always screamed novelty to me. The concept is future-seeing for games, I believe that, but until it takes off as a norm in this industry, it seems it will be a tacked-on experience.

I have my preorders ready: VR (£329), Move controllers (£51) & camera (£30). Though I'm still unsure whether to go ahead with the whole purchase.
Yes, I know, everything I have on order is pretty decently cheap - in comparison to the RRP - but I guess the lack of enticing games are holding me back + the fact that the £430 could be used towards other upcoming games.

How do you all see the VR situation? Are you interested at all? Do you see it as simple novelty?

Going to cancel my preorder personally.

Just can't see it actually taking off, not on the PS4 at least. I mean while there's tons of games coming out for it how many are actual big budget games? Barely any. Don't think I can justify £350+ on something that might turn out to be a flop.

VR definitely has a wow factor when you start using it but it is early days and I am not sure they know what type of games to produce for it.
I have an Oculus Rift so won't be getting a PSVR but I hope it succeeds.
Anything in a vehicle works really well.
Tracking is the main issue with the PSVR so far from what I have read in reviews so it will be interesting to see how the consumer feels about that.

preordered it the day it was announced. As the other guy said Ive cancelled mine as I agree with Certinfy. Its very dear for something that is going to have very few AAA titles (if any at launch) and ive seen it and bought into too much flopped hardware..... see playstation tv, playstation eye, kintect, playstation move for further details

I think it's a gimmick, albeit one I think looks interesting. It's too expensive to take off commercially at that sort of price.

I agree there, pal. I've gone ahead and cancelled my orders.
We shall see how things play out

You're clearly in the same boat as me, mate.
I've just cancelled my orders; hopefully this time next year VR will not only be a thing, but will have great support to entice

It's difficult to say whether it's going to be commercially viable to develop games for it without knowing how many people are interested. The hardware on the consumer side is certainly cheap enough for millions to buy it but whether they will or not remains to be seen.

I'm not particularly interested in the goggles personally but the introduction of 3D controllers to the PC might make me get a set of those. I find extra gameplay options much more attractive than a prettier picture.

I'm keeping mine, getting in on brand new tech is exciting, VR is more than a gimmick, we've been playing the same sort of games for decades, this is brand new, so what if it's just experiences right now, they are priced appropriately, it's real application will be outside of games, many promoters and movie studios have expressed an interest in VR it's only the begging, hoping for AAA is just wrong, it's not what VR is about, maybe for stationary cockpit type games then yeah, but having played Rez VR, it's just an experience you can get any other way. So exciting can't wait to see where this goes

You have to pay extra for the move controller and camera?
That's a urine extraction surely.
