Anyone offering to pay for old TVs?

Hi everyone. We're looking to buy a new TV to replace our old 37" plasma. One of the reasons for this is because it has a faulty digital tuner inside meaning we can't get any freeview channels. Selling this second hand probably wouldn't get us anything so does anyone know of any stores offering to collect and pay for old TVs?

I think Sony stores have a £100 offer when you buy a new TV, but we don't want a Sony! Typical.

Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks.

lol I'll go to £25

Seriously though, whereabouts are you based?

And what model is it? May be interested just to use it as a gaming monitor in my son's room.

^ I would repair the tuner unit, if thats all it is...if you want to sell it second hand, I would buy..but like you say, I doubt you'd get that much for it.

£25 is probably a bit low, like you say could put it in my little brothers room for the PS3. We're based very near J8 of the M11 though and it's a Sony KDE-P37XS1.

How much would this repair cost, do you reckon?

Yes ideal solution, but bless my parents they are getting old so extra boxes only add to the confusion!

Erm, well if you took it to a shop I'd have no idea (expensive I guess ) ...but if you're good with a soldering iron it's not hard to replace the part...Like I said, if you want to sell...let me know.

Ok thanks a lot, I'll have a look into seeing how much new tuners are...

Just had a quick look around the net and one sold on eBay in October for over £700 (http://*********.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230389623341#ht_2935wt_1167). Ok this included a stand and had a working tuner, but since ours too comes with original box, remote, perfect condition etc etc I reckon its worth a bit more than £25.

Thank you for the advice :)

Depends what any offers were looking like, but it looks like a three figure sum would be reasonable. Although it would be collection only because of the weight.

I was joking about £25. lol

I'd love to buy, but collection is just too far from me.

Looks like it might be worth putting on Ebay?
