I ordered food from Tescos to be delivered for Christmas Eve some weeks back. When I looked at my order today to add a couple of items it is showing many things as no longer available e.g. my ham joint and lamb rack that we're having for Christmas dinner! Has anyone else had this problem before or did you get all the items you ordered?
I would have thought as it was ordered ages ago they would make sure they had all these things?
Thanks!

I ordered a couple of years ago and my shopping never turned up at all when due the day before christmas eve (with no warning until about an hour before). Apparently the 'freezers' had broken, which resulted in a mad rush over christmas eve to get all our food we had on order. Not an apology from Tesco for this at all, never used again :')

Also whenever we've ordered online in the past (from any supermarket) at least half the 'festive' items have been out of stock and not delivered so we stopped shopping for food online at this time of year!

Thanks, I order from them throughout the year and no problems but if I hadn't checked this order we'd have nothing for our Christmas dinner. First world problems I know but easily avoidable on their part!
I'm thinking I might just cancel and order through M&S instead, more expensive but I think there's a better chance of it turning up!

My mum and dad had the same problem last year and this was my point too. If you order 2 weeks in advance say they should be set aside for that order. Seems unfair someone can order a week after you and get the stock instead of you because they're delivery is sooner. Pee's me off cos I then have to go out on Christmas Eve to buy the items missing from their order. I hate shopping at Xmas so order everything online to avoid having to tackle the madness in the shops at Xmas. So yes tesco should really prioritise the orders better

As another precaution why don't you get it delivered the day before Christmas Eve? That way you have a little time to source anything that is essential? Also things like ham etc. lasts a long time so might be worth buying in advance.

Irrelevant when you made the order unfortunately, if the items are out of stock come your delivery date, then you won't get them. We made an order a few weeks back for the 19th Dec and a few things have showed as out of stock/unavailable but then showed as available a few days later. I remember last year loads of stuff in our order showed as unavailable/oos, right up until the day before delivery but almost all of it got delivered in the end luckily.

Originally I did think that but for two reasons I went for a nearer date: the shelf life i.e the lamb had 5 days and the duck even less so I think and secondly the space, I don't have much room in my fridge for it all along with my weeks shop!
Also the earlier spots had all gone and I could only do the evenings. In hindsight I should have done so but now it's definitely too late to get an earlier spot!

Hmm normally I'd risk it but if it doesn't turn up we'll be having only veg for xmas and I like my meat too much! haha

Ooh don't blame you! Could it be worth buying some spare meat and freezing it just in case? Christmas Eve is always a risky day for food delivery!

Are these special christmas joints or just standard food? if its the special stuff, they are only available to order until 14th dec, so thats why they will be showing as unavailable now, and you should still get yours as long as you don't cancel/remove them from your order.
If you want to be certain, just contact the customer service to be sure.

Two out of the 3 meats (duck and lamb) are the festive order so fingers crossed you're right! I've sent them an email to check. I'm thinking I might do a people suggested and get some form of meat to freeze (I'll be having icecream for dinner tonight to make space!) and then hope for the best!

the items showing unavailable are as of TODAY in your delivery store. As long as you do not check out again, then these items will be delivered if they are in stock on the delivery day. Its to stop new orders being created with stock they are out of.

Check your basket tomorrow or in a few days time and you will probably see most are saying available again.

I have used tesco for xmas deliveries for the last 5 years and I can only recall one essential item not being delivered which was easily found in another local supermarket. Far less hassle than going in a supermarket just before xmas day.
