Has anyone had windows supplied and fitted by either Safestyle or DirectWindow Co? I have had quotes from both which are now very similar. Just wondered if anyone has any advice on which one to go for.

My quotes which are around the £6000/£6500 mark are for:

2 doors (1 Black Composite and 1 White UPVC)
3 Large bay windows (Main glass all about 3 metres by 1.7 metres)
1 small/medium kitchen window
1 small/medium "box room" window
1 large bedroom window
1 small window (next to the front door)

Is it a good price. I had a local company about the same.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Hi, we had Safestyle. They gave a decent quote and did the job efficiently when they said. However we had an issue with the back door and had them back. The guy said we needed to be more forceful with the door (?) and it would be ok. Two years on it's still inclined to stick, but we live with it.

!!! See that's a worry, but I suppose there are issues with lots of jobs with lots of different companies. Does mine seem like a decent quote in your opinion?

Have you tried everest. Also play them off each other on price to bring it down. Had previous dealings with safestyle. Wonky bathroom window and gaping holes at the back patio door. Back to fix and a large discount applied before i parted with my money.
2nd house i had my windows done by a local reputable firm and they were 60% of the lowest prices offered by the big companies and they did a cracking job. Depends on how far your trust goes.

And that's the thing. I had my bathroom fitted off a local guy and within months I regretted it. Would you say my quote is decent/good in your opinion?

Id say a little high really as your goods look like a cost of no more than £3k. So i wonder how a £3k install cost in one day with four men is justified.

Safestyle are a nightmare to get them to stop calling you, I had them round for a quote and went with someone else, they kept calling me over and over and didn't stop even after telling them id had my windows fitted by another company many times, idiots.
From my experiences I would never have them round for a quote or let them have my phone number again. Be warned.

see if you have council recommended trusted traders in your area.

Too late now....They already have it.

I never knew that they did this. I may try that tomorrow :) Thanks

Yes..same here. Had them for a quotation, hugely overpriced. Still getting calls from them 2 years on. Had work done by local reputable company at half the price.

What was the price roughly? Is what I have been priced up overly expensive?

you asked this 7 months ago,
you got a lot of answers about how bad safe style were,
then you have just got them to come and give you a quote,
now your asking how bad safe style are,
without trying to sound funny,
are you just wanting people to say,
oh that's sounds a great deal,
go with safestyle .

Get more quotes of local independent fitters first and tbh that seems high
#15
No I am not. I have had a few people tell me they are pleased with Safestyle/ no problems at all. I know nothing about windows or doors. Like I said earlier, I had a bathroom fitted by a local tradesman and got burnt. Was not happy with the job (a few months down the line), called him back but the things still were not fully rectified.

Thought this was the ASK section of HUKD. It has been 6 months since I asked...so thought I would ask for other opinions/viewpoints :)

like I said, I don't want to sound funny.
I had put a answer on which reflected what others had said get local quotes.
then read your old thread, deleted my post and put that one up.

Don't worry... clearly some folk don't understand the concept that opinions and experiences change over time.

My parents got a lot of quotes for a composite door and three large windows. They got quotes from Everest, Anglian and then a couple of local firms, RTE and Ultraframe. In the end they went for Ultraframe based on build quality and price, approximately £3000. Also, the composite door being provided was by Rockdoor which are from what I have seen are the best quality in composite doors.

I had a quote of safestyle and it took me two years before they finally excepted that there quote was to high and I was not using them.it would take all day to list the terrible lengths they go to and stalk you, they will not take no for an answer once you've phoned them.,trust me Google reviews on them even when I told them that the job had been done still wouldn't stop calling.

As others have said, give a wide berth to the big companies and go with a small local firm.
Safe style and the like have terrible ethics, pay their sales team buttons compared to their overpriced Windows.
Had a quote from them for £13k (wow the salesman even gave me discount)
Local firm did the lot for £3k

In all honestly, it's pot luck. You will see nightmare stories and good ones on the internet about safestyle.
Have a look on checkatrade and look for reviews and ask around friends / family for recommendations.

At a risk of annoying Shadey12 (but I do appreciate your comments and understand what you are saying),

I have signed up to have my windows and doors replaced for £5,500 by DirectWindowCo. It may be a little over the odds...A local tradesman may have done it for £3,500 at a push but I have been burnt in the past with local tradesman and I think it has just put me off.

Reviews of DirectWindowCo seem pretty good and they are A class windows so I feel that I am getting a good product.

Thank you very much to everyone that has commented on this...I took everything into consideration :)

if your happy, that's the main thing.
I wasn't trying to be funny at all, sorry if it came across that way,
I just couldn't understand after all the comments about safe style you even letting them past the front door.
again, sorry I wasn't being funny and hope everything go's well.

Ha. I was only joking. I really appreciate everyone's comments and viewpoints. I am a nightmare at making decisions, hence why 6 months down the line I still haven't had them done. Thanks :)
