I've registered a numerous domains via 1and1 US and optional privacy is inclusive, as is a one-page website. 1and1 UK seem to offer a similar privacy option although it appears to be conditional.

and always worth checking if such a free service is still free at renewal.

That's what I thought of first. Good idea if you have loads, which I might end up with the way I'm going but then never use. That cost quite a bit I think the last time I checked, though a good idea if you need it for other purposes too.
