Hi everyone i am looking to buy some apple dvd-r media to use, although it is rather expensive a 5 pack is £15 and a 25 spindle tub is around £45, not cheap at all.

I was wondering if there are any decent deals anywere that would enable me to get them any cheaper at all? Would be grateful if anyone could point them out if they arise.

Thanks

You know you don't need Apple branded dvd-r media right? Any dvd-r will work fine. In fact the Apple branded stuff is just re-branded media that you can buy anywhere. There's only a small handful of media makers in the world so almost everything you see out there is just a brand and nothing more.

I often buy from SVP.co.uk but there are a few other online stores like this with very competitive prices compared to what you will find on the high street stores. Most of the media they have is good quality but just read the descriptions, they are pretty honest about how good it is or not.

Thanks for the reply but it is the apple media that i want just to try it out i know it is more expensive but i have tried various media i already had and have been having problems so decided to just pay out and try apple.

Have ordered a 25 spindle of ebay just waiting for it to arrive but if anybody knows of anywhere that has some decent prices online in the uk i may get some more.

It doesnt even have to be from a dvd media supplier can be from a catalogue (so i can use discount codes) which would be good, this media is hard to track down.

Good Media Websites

Catalogue

Argos do a good collection of media but only worth buying from them when they do an offer otherwise they are generally more expensive.

I buy a lot of discs mate and the admin is correct about there being lots of discs that are made by the same people and branded differently by others. I have succesfully used Datawrite Titanium on my uncles apple mac and you could have got roughly 100 dvds for the same price as you would for paying £15 for 5 apple ones.

Let us know how the apple discs turn out though as I am curious to see if they are any good :D

Well they arrived today and they are flawless even the design is sexy lol! I have not had one error yet so i am pretty chuffed just a shame that apple charge so much.

I am prepared to pay around £30-£35 for a 25 spindle pack (which is what i paid the first time) so if anybody see's any about or any codes give me a shout. I have a feeling these will not last long.

As with all things apple they are bound to be good looking discs :D

In all seriousness though I would never pay that much money for dvd-r media.

Will keep my eye out for cheaper ones for you mate.

Hi Copperfield, What kind of problems have you been having as I find the best disc available is the 16x Ridisc Xtreme Ritek AAA+ DVD-R. They will stand against any issues with the disc. Thankfully never had to use this but definitely the best disc on the market for me.
What DVD burner are you using and burning software? This could be the problem as opposed to the disc.

You are insane paying that much for Apple DVD-R. Taiyo Yuden are considered the best DVD-R in the world and im sure they have a much better success and compatibility rate than Apple, and you can get a 100 spindle for the price you are willing to pay for Apple.

So try out the TY - save yourself some money.

I'm as staunch a lover of Apple as you seem to be copperfield, a user for over 15 years... but mate, you're paying way over the odds for DVD's! You should give some Verbatim, TDK or Sony's a go!

I've been using these in my mac for long enough, never had a single problem - backing up music, data, burning DVD's etc - and you can get them for less than half what you are paying!! :)

As someone mentioned Apple DVD's are just re-branded, wouldn't be surprised if they are verbatim.. as they have supplied their discs before with Macs. If it's looks, the TDK DVD+R's I have look pretty damn good :-D
