You find it cheaper then that. Dam! Your so lucky you got the staff discount, where do you work btw?

Best place to buy at the moment will be John Lewis 8g ipod touch £199.

Use TEL168CHG234 discount voucher for £20 off.

You should also get 5% quidco(JL do quidco on the pre discount price) which should give you £9.95 cashback.

That's as damn near £169!!!!:-D

hi there.

i thought i might be able to provide some help / advice.

i've just returned from New York and bought one of these out there. well, actually I bought the 16gb version... paying using my visa card, the total came to £216.81 which I thought was a thoroughly good price for the goods!

Now, the 16gb model was retailing at $399, with the 8gb model at $299, so I guess I paid about £20 for the dollar conversion etc. So, the 8gb model will come to roughly £147 + £15 for the dollar conversion... £162

This is a good price, however it will depend how cheap you can get the shipping from the states. What would be ideal is if you know someone out there, or going out there, which can buy and send it to you.

As for general information on the device - I LOVE IT. It's brilliant. The screen is great, and I found some amazing software for converting my videos for use on the device. On the train this morning I watched 2 episodes of neighbours and some sopranos. The device is so cool - people keep comparing it to the iphone but they shouldn't - the iphone is ALOT more expensive when you consider the pricey costs of the "cut down" o2 contract. There are so many great things about the touch - it's really sexy. The reviews also flag the lack of a few features like google maps which exist on the iphone - i personally believe that they'll be added in time with a fw upgrade - but they're not that important - you can browse the internet to maps.google.com and use it there anyway! It's a GREAT device, i've had it on all day (about 2 hours of video and 5 hours of music so far and its still over half full on the batts.

I couldn't be more happier with it - get one!

I am stuck between the itouch and i phone but i am on 3 network contract so the sim cannot be used in the iphone which is annoying. I know of some places which offer the iphone unlocked for alot cheaper than you will find it on the 02 contract but i know i cant state who as it would be advertising and its against the rules.

If you have a compatible 3 phone id think of getting a Slingbox and X series gold. I got one the other week and its fantastic to be able to watch live sport etc on the train or sitting in airports etc, im assuming of course its the video you want it for?

The slingbox picture quality is superb and much better than i thought it would be and 3 will give you the slingbox for free if you add x series gold at £10 a month on to your tariff, saves paying the £100 or so for the box itself

btw don't bother with the iphone if you intend to unlock it - the hacked fw causes all sorts of problems. n5760 - ipod touch all the way!
