Education discount is the best you'll get on a new MBP, although I'd wait a while if I were you there are rumours of new MBP's being announced this month at the MacWorld Expo.

hi
Try to phone them in person and ask for a better deal as you are a student. Coz my friend did that and got one for 1252 with mac office and 3 years applecare.

yes they are releasing a new macbook pro with 0.5' thickness and a blue-ray payer

was that for the 2.4 pro? a very good deal?

it wasn't the 2.4 pro ... but i think its a good idea to call them... you might get a good deal still if i was you i would wait for the next version coz its got a blue ray player. and thinner

That would be the 2.2, not the 2.4. I got my 2.4Ghz for £1401 including AppleCare, call them up though, much better deal to be had by doing so.

A rumour, and you've mis-spelt Blu-ray.
#8
a rumor from reliable sources.. yeah i corrected the spelling from the dictionary thats why... :)

There was a rumour the drive was going to be put into the iMac, but that wasn't true. No point saying stuff like that when all it is is a rumour - you should have mentioned that when you said it the first time.

well why are you trying to fight with me bout it... I just gave my opinion coz I know what I know If you dont like just dont take it... neways the advice wasnt for you... it for person who posted this thread keep that in mind... grow up
#11
I'm not fighting with you. You didn't give your opinion, you stated it as if it was fact, saying they ARE releasing a .5" one with Blu-ray drive (why would they put a player in there and not a recorder anyway?), when it's not true, it's a rumour. They may well release it, but don't state it as fact. This website is a public site, so the advice here is for everyone, I'm going to correct it if what you posted is wrong. If you have a problem with that, I suggest you find another site to post your rumours on without saying they're rumours. No, I have no idea who you work for, nor do I care when you start throwing insults around.

Whether you want the new model or not (assuming there is one) unless you need a MBP urgently then it's probably still worth waiting as MacWorld runs 14th-18th Jan. So it's not far away and prices will come down on the old model if a new one is announced, and don't forget nothing has been confirmed by Apple so they may just release something right up your street. Either way worst case senario you have to wait a few weeks to get what you could get now, best case you get cheaper and/or better MBP.

Indeed, for the same price they may pop in a faster processor, nicer screen, better GPU, more stuff! Worth waiting two weeks for as I did for my 2.4Ghz and bought it a couple of days after they updated!

Hi Boothy,

I'm selling my macbook pro, will take an offer at 1150 GBP
It is the 2.4GHz core2duo, 2 GB ram, 160GB HD, 8600M GT graphics card, 15" screen, It has been used for about 4 hours (installed vista on there). It also has office 2008 on the leopard.
Purchased last week as a present, but I don't like Macs! But that means it has the full 1 year applecare on it.

All the powersupplys remotes and original box is there too :)
I am based in London, if that makes any difference in picking it up etc.

Get back to me soon, before I stick it on ebay.
