PS.
GAME are re-listing the "Assassin's Creed" [PS3] Collectors Edition item again (it was taken offline late last week for reason[s] unknown)

If you were still thinking of this, it's double rewards points if you order before the release date (this Friday).

Interestingly, the ShopTo.net/.com product is now being listed at £49.99 RRP, but selling for £52.99 - a "saving" of minus £3!

It also states "(NOT FOR RESALE)" at the bottom of the page.

!?!

Had to go & check the site following your quoted price.

When I posted earlier today the price was £59.99 - now it's down to £39.99.

And yes, with one of the many "£3 off £30" codes it drops to £36.99.

Hope you didn't forget the 11% QuidCo cashback too.

I'm off to place a pre-order now, as pre-orders offer double rewards points too :)

You mean the GAME Exclusive?

The Standard edition for the PS3 & for the Xbox360 are both £39.93 at Asda-Entertainment.co.uk.

I placed an order for "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" [PS3] last Thursday night/Friday morning right on the cusp of 12midnight.

It has only just been picked for packing today!

PS. I Cannot find the Xbox360 Collector's Edition on the GAME site now!?!

Try googling it and a result will come up for GAME. Its showing as "£37.99 Product temporarily removed from sale."

But the PS3 page says "Despatched in time for delivery on release day." so thats why I ordered. Or else I would have popped to the local GAME on Friday.

The "removed from sale" message was showing against the PS3 Collector's Edition earlier this week.

You can now order on the GAME site & collect in-store (for up to 14 days), at the pre-ordered online price (presumably).

However, in-store prices are typically higher than the web site (e.g. "DIRT" I pre-ordered for £29.99 & it was £49.99 in-store a few days later on release day), and you wouldn't be able to get the voucher code discount &/or QuidCo.

That said, GAME did offer an incentive to pre-order in-store for "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare"... 'whilst stocks last'[ed] they were giving away a DVD of screen images & videos (and probably something else but I didn't pay much attention).

Odd business model where the mail order department tries to compete with the in-store counter sales :)

Not really odd. It happens most places nowadays. The online and store businesses are treated as seperate entities. Anyway drop the forum a post when you get the game. Thanks happy HDUKing

Will do... although "Mrs Claus" may want to put this away for 25 December, but I'll try to sneak a look at the game if I can.

And yes, GAME.net did not used to be owned by the GAME Group a few years ago; it was a completely different Company altogether (...A completely different Company).

The online console/game bundles are usually a lot better than the instore ones, btw.

I bought this Wii bundle in August:

The in-store staff couldn't match anything near it. Looking at the prices now, I should've bought a few of them...

Better photo of the "GAME Exclusive" figurine on the (sister) Gameplay site...

http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/images/products/PX0145_1_lq.jpg

Shows how much better the Game(play) figurine is compared to the ShopTo.net one...

http://uk2.shopto.net/boxart/PS3AS01.jpg

That, incidentally, together with the Xbox360 figure edition, is listed with a release date of "30/11/2007" & "Pre-order temporarily stopped".

After first receiving an e-mail this morning (08:21):

"By using the GAME 1st To Play Preorder Service you have ensured that you will be among the first people to receive Assassins Creed Collectors Edition - GAME Exclusive, and we are confident that you will be happy with the order, our service and our speedy delivery!"

Then at 12:02...

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your recent order on GAME.co.uk. It included the Collectors Edition of Assassins Creed which was incorrectly priced. Game.co.uk endeavours to ensure that all pricing information on its website is accurate, however, on very rare occasions, errors do occur and unfortunately we are unable to confirm your order or despatch this item.

Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. I understand that you will be disappointed with this news and as a gesture of goodwill I'd like to offer you 5.00 GBP off any order you wish to place with GAME.co.uk.

We do take the accuracy of the information on the website very seriously indeed. We've now added yet further checks to ensure that prices are as clear as possible.

Yours faithfully,

etc. etc.

Then at 4:10pm another e-mail...

"We are pleased to advise that your order, XXXXXXX/X, is currently being processed."

I've just checked online, and see...

"15/11/2007 16:30:27 Your order has been dispatched on: 15/11/2007"

(And I still have the £5 voucher code they sent previously)

Confused? You will be!

PS. Does anybody know what, if anything, is different with the US "Limited Edition" version (apart from the cover art)?

(£36.99 from MovieTyme.com)
