Hello, I am looking for a flight to England at the last minute. My grandmother just passed away at the weekend and I would like to return for the funeral.

I am aware that some companies will allow bereavement discounts, or at least it used to be a thing.
Do any of you guys know of any companies that still do? Work for companies that offer this?

I would be flying from CGK (Jakarta, Indonesia) to London (any airport) - cheapest I can currently found is just under $1100 USD.

I am unsure on the exact dates as of this time, but should have more details within 48 hours. (will probably either be this coming weekend 15-16th April or the following)

Thanks,

Glenn

Another option which seems counter-intuitive is buying two one way tickets:

Just priced a one way with Vietnam airlines flying out this Wednesday from CGK to LHR for £446/$560 (23 hours travel time) and the return one way on Wednesday 26th April with Malaysia for £275/$345

Of course you don't have to book the return leg right now so you have the option of leaving immediately without as big a hit to your finances and then figuring out when to come back as you see fit

Depending on your flexibility, you could wait at the airport with your passport and hand luggage and if someone does not turn up for their flight to the UK you may get a chance to purchase and fly, but VERY hit and miss and price well, it depends on how they feel.......

I don't know if airlines still offer bereavement fares but you can save a little money. Get a cheap flight to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur and get a return flight from there. The combined cost should be a couple of hundred cheaper. Of course it will take longer. Maybe around 25-30 hours total

I've just priced a ticket using air Asia to go to KL from CGK and then Qatar return to London from there for £710 total ($880)

Good luck, I tried but didn't get anywhere when my dad died and I was booking a flight for the next day.

Thank you so much for the time taken to do this. The hardest part is not yet knowing the date (waiting for coroner report and possible further examination).

flights are very expensive currently unless there is a cancellation it won't be cheap

had family use united for getting from usa to uk they were really helpful and accommodating

Try using Europe as your final destination. As fares to Europe are generally cheaper. Then book a cheap flight round trip to the uk

I can't give you any advice. Only my condolences.
