youll be hard pressed to find anything that will do proper 4K HDR HDMI2.0 with decent frame response times for under 600quid

My LG49 850V does 4K but no HDMI2.0 and no standard HDR (LG does "Deep Colour" which is similar) and it cost £900 a year ago. You might be able to pick something like this up for around £650 ish now.

I really dislike LG TVs that would be my last resort

I think you will be hitting the last resort options at the price point youre at. I mean, 4K can be got for like £450 but the panels are just complete garbage and youd be better off getting a decent 55inch FHD TV with HDR and enjoying smoother FPS and less aliasing through downsampling

Don't get it confused with the current 49UH850V which does have HDMI 2.0 and partial HDR (which is all you're going to get in budget).

Other than that for maximum colour space coverage you're looking at the Panasonic DX700 (£550 refurbished at Panasonic outlet), Sony XD80 (or XD83 for the 120hz screen) or Samsung KU6400-KU6670 (variations on the same TV).

I'm not very familiar with the Hisense EC730 as it's last year's model, but the current M5500 is dim and has less colour space coverage than the ones above so I'd pass on that one.

indeed, UB only supports 10-bit Y 4:2:0 via hdmi port 3 @ 60Hz UHD, otherwise its all 8-bit @4k via the other ports.

Excellent, mine was delivered on Saturday, very impressed. Tweaked the picture settings to my liking and it's superb.
