Best 970 for me?

I'm looking to buy a GTX970 this week. Would like to wait for the 380x but I can't, so what's the best one for me, and where is it cheapest? I'll be hoping to overclock to 1500mhz so the Strix is off the list. The MSI and Gigabyte G1 are looking like attractive options so far, as is the GALAX Infinity Black. Anyone got any shouts before I pull the trigger? Cheers.

Honesty time: Real world performance between different 970s will be completely negligible. If you're playing a game, you won't be able to tell the difference between cards from what's on screen.

Decide how concerned you are by heat and noise of and then go with the cheapest card within those limits.

I think negligible is understating it...some of these cards boost to 1100 mhz, some do 1600mhz. That's a big performance boost.

I'm going for the galax black a nice clean black Finnish and backplate but I'm going to hold out for about £240 as its about 300 atm but might go for the MSI one as I have a MSI card currently and it's a bit cheaper

That's what I'm thinking...the backplate on the Galax is swaying me, but for another £30? Hmm decisions.

The difference in frequency sounds like a big number, but when you see what 'performance boost' that gets you in a real world situation like actually playing a game, the difference is literally only a couple of frames. Ignoring the noise the card makes, you wouldn't be able to tell them apart without a frame counter on screen, and even then it would be tough.

The Galax Black Edition is a great card. Runs at 62c under load which is only beaten by the Gigabyte, if I remember correctly. Guru3d did a review, as did a few other sites. Possibly Hexus and Kitguru.
