To record in HD or SD?

For SD, you can get a Dazzle. (£30-70)
Dazzle: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pinnacle-Systems-8230-10063-01-Dazzle-Recorder/dp/B001918NLC/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1265735255&sr=8-11
Dazzle Platinum: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pinnacle-Dazzle-Video-Creator-Platinum/dp/B00191BHT2/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1265735255&sr=8-13

For HD, you're looking for a Blitzbox, Hauppauge HD-PVR or something similiar. (£100+)

Blitzbox: http://www.limexb360.co.uk/manufacturer/BlitzBox,i.html
Hauppauge: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hauppauge-Capture-Definition-Hardware-Encoders/dp/B001M0MY10/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265735255&sr=8-1
Something else: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hauppauge-WinTV-HVR4000-Analogue-Satellite/dp/B000N4NKAK/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265735255&sr=8-7
Something else (random search): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Avertv-727-Capture-Hd-Card/dp/B002MRROO4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265735255&sr=8-3

We have a Hauppauge and it's great although we haven't used it a lot because we don't have a PC (apart from mine) with fast enough USB and good enough specs to run it and record the footage. It's a bit of a pain to setup (with various updates required for all the software) but does record excellent quality when you finally get it working.

The Blitzbox has a version with a wireless transmitter (useful if the TV isn't near the PC).

Here's a tiny clip we recorded in 720p and quickly uploaded (didn't really edit it much, or do any colour correction etc, again due to a lack of appropriate hardware): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAZ7kuCC9yU but it does record lovely.

On the lookout for a decent quad core to record and edit with.

Thanks for that mate, which would you recommend most for the 360 and a price range of around £50 ?

If you can only afford £50, then Dazzle is the only way to go really unless you can find an HD cap card (that works) for that price.

If you could stretch the budget it might be worth trying the Blitzbox or the "Something else" link.

But are you wanting to record on standard def or high def?

Dazzle can be a pain to set up as well.

You'll need an RCA lead and 3 splitters:

Spitters: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000L980MU/ref=s9_simi_gw_p65_t2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1PJKYW06J272EEBQ78D4&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294
Lead (can get from 1m-15+m): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Triple-Cable-Phono-Audio-Video/dp/B00136X2YG/ref=pd_cp_ce_2

You'll also need to download AmCap to take the recording I think (free download, Google it). I never actually got Dazzle working here (my brothers friend brought his one day and I gave up after an hour or so), but hopefully you'd have better luck :)

*Edit* I was new to it as well, but had to learn fast :p Did a lot of research into it (even though I had 0 interest, bah!)

You'll also need some video editing software (don't know if Dazzle has some bundled in) but windows movie maker would do for now ;)
