I currently get unlimited home phone, and a large B/B package for £30 per month from Virgin Media. Are there any better packs out there atm?

To be honest Hocka if you are happy with your current speeds and overall package I would not bother changing.

What could be good for one can be an absolute nightmare for others.

For the sake of a couple of quid (if your fairly happy) then just stick with what you know is best. BB packages can be a hit and miss thing no matter who you go with or where you are from.

And! If it goes wrong it can go very wrong, so many horror stories from people who have changed and lived to regret it.

So, unless you are getting an awesome unbeatable deal (which I think your current package will be hard to beat) then I would just stick with what you know best.

I am not going to go on about who is the best or who is the worst as everyone has different experiences. But just be careful when changing for the sake of a few quid.

Does that include line rental? Most BT based BB you have to pay for a phone line at about £15/month on top of the BB price. Also have you called Virgin, they have some pretty good deals on at the minute and if you threaten to leave (You need to know of another better deal before you call and you have to be prepared to leave if you dont get the deal you want) then they usually will give you a deal you can't pass up. Also in my experience Virgin Media Broadband is far more reliable than BT and derivatives and more consistent though I am sure someone will come along and say the opposite so it may be where you live that determines that.

Yes that includes line rental. I called them up to see if there was a better plan to be on but they said Im on the best one for me and gave me £30 credit to keep things the same with them! :)

So you are basically paying about £10 for the large BB which is what speed? 50meg? Seems good to me.

You asked for phone and broadband without tv so that's what I posted.
Its just I can not see an option online without their tv.

If you can't use a website then I wouldn't bother with the internet, but to make it simple. Get the Simply Broadband package and add the Anytime calls boost for £5

That was nice of you.

I thought I was the only sarcastic one around here. http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g194/Lensman03/Smileys/Smiley-rolling-eyes-med.jpg

There's a difference between sarcasm and plain awful. I feel that was more towards the latter to be honest! :D

Agree 100%, that is why I said it. ;)

Although I am no angel at times but I hope I don't come across as bad as that.

Good advice NEtech, I think you are right. Its been that long since I went onto this deal I thought there may be some better offers out there now, it seems I am still on a good deal, plus Ive never had any trouble with Virgin.

To give you an example I took a new Virgin deal out in March.

I pay £23.99 pm for the first six months then something like £31 for the next 12 months. I get the phone line included (only free weekend calls and nothing else) and 50mb BB.

Now the £23.99 is a new enticer thing which is thrown about often for new subscribers. To be honest I have not checked what it will be after 6 months but it won't be far off 31 quid.

So when you say you get large BB, what is that exactly? As I am on the slowest package at 50mb. Also if you get unlimited phone then that is a big bonus as that costs extra, never checked how much.

Anyway what is your BB speeds? Maybe you could push them a little and get them to upgrade you if you're on a lower speed.

Im on 30mb B/B. Its fine for us. They said they don't offer that speed anymore but if I was to increase the speed, the price would go up. I also get unlimited calls and 150 mins per month to any mobile, 0845 numbers and international calls (we don't use them). We have all got a rolling virgin sim in our mobiles, and we use the smart call app that links up with our home phone. When our daughter went to NY a few months ago, it was great. (I did not know at the time I had international calls). We also have call display. Our bill is exactly £31.40 per month to cover home phone and BB. For the sims I pay £5 for one £8 the other and £13 for our daughters. We have Sky TV, I have tried Virgin TV in the past and hated it.

30mb is the old speeds, you should get an free upgrade to 50mb soon as it rolls out around the country. I was lucky here as I took out my account in March just as they had rolled out the free upgrade.

You will get a free upgrade soon, no idea who you were talking to on the phone as they should know that you will be upgraded, pesky sales add ons, where is the customer service these days!?

However if you already have Sky TV and if you're wanting to cut costs then why not go with Sky? I have heard their LLU is very efficient if you are in a LLU area. I may be talking about a few years ago mind here when I last researched them but things can't change that much in a short time I am fairly sure...?

Obviously you will be dropping down a level from cable (fibre) but for most people (me included) it will be more than enough.

Have you checked out what they can offer you?

No, but I think I will give them a ring. It's often better to get everything from one place to get a better discount. We only use the internet for shopping/HUKD, daughters homework and my husband goes online with his PS4/Vita.

We only use the internet for shopping/HUKD, day to day living, paying our bills, contacting friends and family, researching, playing games, passing the time away, login when we are bored, daughters homework and my husband goes online with his PS4/Vita, basically we swear by it and would be totally lost without it......

Oh OK, then you need this:
