Looking for a dash cam for a friend that's good value wise as well as as fine quality and practicality wise too.

Searching previous questions on here, seems the G1W was the best around a year ago and now the mobius is recommended?

Any help from people who have recently bought one would be perfect and from people who have them too

Thanks a lot in advance

The G1W and the Mobius are really worlds apart. Having tried both I can say the Mobius beats the G1W into the ground by being superior is every way but the down side being it's roughly twice the price.

Nevertheless, I'd still buy a Mobius now if I was in the market for one to replace my Mini 0805 and G1W.

Looks like it's the mobius then, haha

Is it that one? Or is there an official seller for it that I need to purchase off?

There also seems to be a mobius 2 when I search for 20 dollars more I think it is, is that actually a better version or just a copy?

Oh and what else is needed to get started? Presuming there's I need a mount as doesn't look like it's included, any idea where to get one from? Anything else I need?

Thanks for all the help :)

A very useful resource for the camera including where to buy it officially.

Mounts wise, many people use sticky back velcro to mount it under the rear view mirror. This works very well if your car is equipped with rain sensitive wipers/automatic headlights and other similar features as they usually have a sensor box as part of the rear view mirror.

The one I installed in my mothers car came with all the bits we required. The only extra items I had to purchase were

- 12V car cigarette charger to USB cable long enough to run from the mounting point to the fusebox (the length you need will depend on your car so get a tape measure and work this out now)
- A fuse tap (about £1-2 for a decent quality one)
- A 12V cigarette lighter socket (about £3-5 for a decent quality one)

Obviously this is a simple set up because my mother only wanted a single camera in her car, my own car has a 3 port cigarette lighter hidden behind the dashboard that also has 2 USB sockets. SO with that said it really depends what you want to achieve.

gw1 is bigger, which is the reason I can't be bothered to take it out of glove box and use it.
you need something smaller which can stay there.
