My three kids spent three hours between them on a friend's Wii console last Wednesday, and then all fell asleep in the car before we got back home (around 11:15pm) probably due to the excessive use of the Wii Remote (not least the late hour).

I deposited each child in their respective beds still asleep, and as soon as the first one was up the following morning, in the same way Lisa & Bart Simpson chanted at Homer to go to the Mount Splashmore water park, all I had was "Can we get a Wii?"... "Everybody wants one... even Mummy", ..."Can we get one when you come home from work?"... "Can we get one before you go to work?"... "I love the bowling game"... "No, tennis is best"... etc. etc.

I went out to work for a rest from it, chuckling to myself as they have now realised that I was right all along when I said they would like it ever since I first saw the console in Gamestation (Lewisham) a day before the official launch (on 8 December last year).

(I am also predicting one, if not more, of them wanting an Xbox 360 'Elite' for Christmas... no, wait, that's me! :D )

I went to Bluewater Shopping Centre (in Kent) last Thursday to look at the Wii deals in-store, but was sadly disappointed to find that the web site deals are much better (and varied). I asked the store staff (at the two different branches in Bluewater) if they matched the online deals & they both confirmed in the negative. The second sales representative I spoke to asked which deal was being offered [I quoted the one below], and she first said "Bloody Hell...!!!" then regained her composure & added, "There's no way we can match that".

I went to Virgin & found they were offering Wii + 1 game for £200, or Wii + 2 games for £220. I also went to HMV and, although I didn't make a specific note of the deals, I came away thinking the online deal at GAME suited me much better... especially when you can find titles at Asda-Entertainment.co.uk starting from £17.97!

I went for this GAME deal on 18 August; it was delivered yesterday (22nd).

If those at GAME do not suit, try their recently purchased "sister" (daughter?) Company, GameStation:

Got any tips for good game titles, btw?

Here's my "hit list" to date:

I think they have played "Cooking Mama" on the Nintendo DS (Lite).

And yes, may I recommend going here to get a 10% discount code:

Then, here to get "Resident Evil 4" for the Wii at the cheapest price I've seen to date:

(I've had it for my PS2 since last December, but never found the time to play)

Yes... just like that.

To be fair, "Mummy" misunderstood the question, and thought she was answering in the positive to "spending a penny".

Unfortunately, I went one better & have just spent £224.98 on a Wii console, Wii Play, Wii Sports, a classic controller, and a second Nunchuk controller.

It may have been cheaper to fly to the States & get stuck in a slide instead! ;)

Yes, we're both twit-ter-woo.

I should have gone to bed hours ago... my alarm goes off in 50 minutes to get up to go to work! Eeek. Is that the time? Oh dear... best get a "power nap" in.

Will catch up with you towards the end of today (Wednesday)...

PS. Don't apologise for not working... if your profile age is correct, then I advise staying in education as long as possible... it means an extra job isn't being filled for the rest of us! ;)

Almost as horrible as setting your alarm for 2 hours later than usual, over-sleeping by an extra hour, then realising that you've missed bidding on an auction you were watching by 3 minutes!

Apart from that, thanks for the update on the item... but I think we've probably hi-jacked this thread enough now! :)

Good price indeed.

Is the Google Checkout with £10 off still available? That may be an extra saving.

Thanks for posting.

I've actually bought a Wii now... but am looking for a second one for my kids' bedroom for Christmas (possibly a mod'ed/chipped one to save on scratched discs, but always buying the originals for our first machine that will live downstairs) .

I am thinking that perhaps buying a new Wii console online at GAME.co.uk (GAME.net) & then getting it 'altered' appropriately.

Brand new Wii console at GAME: £179.99 (delivered)

QuidCo (3% for hardware) Cashback: £5.40

Effective price: £174.59

However, with a GAME reward card (1800 Reward Points): £4.50

So, this brings the price down to £170.09 delivered.

And whilst the voucher code "GETUPANDPLAY" is still valid, you get another £5.00 off, so the effective price (delivered) is: £165.09.

Is there any movement on your expectations on price?
