o2 are the sole providers.

A 'good deal' is not what I would call any of their offerings. :)

Apparantly o2 are only offering the phone on 18 month and 24 month contracts and the monthly tariff is suppose to be £30+ and their is a handset charge of £200ish

Seen the gadget show the other week and they done a product test on the iphone and the Nokia N95 and the Nokia came out the best even though its been a for a bit, they said the iphone was ok and aimed at people who need the latest gadgets as some of the other features on the phones are not as good

Personally would rather have a decent phone with a big memory card or a separate ipod but thats my preference

Jasmin,
the following company can unlock the phone for you or get you a better deal on the contract. Unfortunately the phone will cost more, but you are not tied to an 18 month contract.
It is not a good idea buying someone an iPhone as a gift as you tie them into an expensive contract.
I have an iPhone and have it unlocked and i use my own Pay as you go sim card - it is a much cheaper option.

there are no good deals on iPhone at the moment !!

You can't get a good deal, as it is Apple. The unit is at a set price of 269 pounds and probably won't change for a while yet. Then you have your contract at 35 or above.

May i suggest the Nokia N95 8 gig in black... free as always on some contracts and £349 off contract via www.pixmaina.co.uk + cash back from quidco.

Have you actually used/seen the i-phone yet - it ain't small....

£39.00 for software that's been available for free for months, another rip off.

Scum companies profiting off others hard work.

You cannot buy the Iphone in the UK without committing to a contract as well - your best off getting from the US & unlocking it yourself (although no gurantee that Apple wont release an "unhacked" firmware).

If you want a UK one on a O2 contract, your better of waiting til next year when Apple & Nokia bring out a range of Iphone's

I am just waiting for it to be released in France, will be un-locked as Apple by law cant sell it for 1 provider

Get him to get the LG viewty, much MUCH better than a iphone and you can get some great deals.

thanks for all your help, as always youve offered some great advice, I will show him the nokia and the viewty as personally I dont want him tied to a contract phone as 12 or 18 months is a long time, and out the 3 I think the iphones the worst BUT it is his decision as its his money.
