Best Deal on a PAYG or Sim Free Mobile Phone

To cut a long story short, basically my mobile fell out of my pocket whilst I was on a bus yesterday and my efforts to get it back proved somewhat futile so I am now up shit creek phone wise.

Vodafone will give me a copy of my contract Sim but as I don't use phone insurance I will need to get a new handset myself.

Could anybody recommend a decent deal on a Sim Free or PAYG handset ? I was looking at one of those cheap N95s but obviously I am not eligible for anything like that so I think I will have to look a bit more down market, especially since I don't generally use any fancy stuff much anyway.

Thanks.

I just signed up with vodafone for £20 rolling contract, 600 min and unlimited tests per month. I was using 3 but the signal is **** if you go out of town. I bought my own phone from ebay. I got an n73 and it does everything I want and it has an excellent battery life. the camera is better than my digital camera so it solves the problem of never having your camera when you need it. I've used the n73 since it came out over a year ago and before then its predessor n70. The n95 is good but does little more than the n73. You can pick one up for less than a hundred quid now unlocked. I think they were about £50-£70 second hand

Includes a PAYG sim with £55.20 credit and 500 free texts.

I would possibly consider that Freebiehunter, but I really don't need the £55.20 of credit mate so you would need to be willing to split it.

Someone else of the for sale thread has asked if I would split but I really wanted to sell as a complete package.

It's not really of any use to me then to be honest because I'm a contract user and this is really just to replace the handset I lost, I still need to use my old voda contract.

I do like the idea of a nokia though, the n73 looks alright but I'm not sure where to get the best deal from.

Hi Sparks.

I'm looking for a similar phone as I've just joined Vodafone on a sim-only deal (£15 per month, 1-month contract, £91 Quidco cashback after 4 months!).

One phone I'm considering is the Samsung J700 which can be had from CarPhoneWarehouse (including £10 PAYG credit, but not currently in stock) or Play.com, both for £50 . This seems to be a reasonable phone IMO.

How much are you looking at spending? Have you turned up any good deals yet? I personally would prefer a new phone with warranty over a second hand phone if possible, but that's just me.

Good luck with your search and let me know what you go for in the end.

Cheers.
