im after one for everyday use including watching films and with a good battery life. Will not be used for gaming other than simple games like card games or monkey island (that sort of thing!) would prefer upwards of 250gb storage and also a decent amount of RAM. windows 7 premium is an absolute must.
thanks peeps

The lenovo s12 is the least powerful (or slowest) for everyday tasks. But would still be fine for most things like word, internet browsing etc + it has the advantage of full windows and 2gb ram, something most netbooks can't match. Combine this with its ion chip and this becomes one of the best for multimedia. A very nice netbook. Powerful enough for everyday use, just don't expect laptop performance. 1080p video wiihout a hitch. And it's one of the cheapest at 219.

The u350 is more of an ultraportable. It's 13.3" and starts at about 269 (@save on laptops). For this you get a dual core processor, bigger screen. So better for multitasking, nippier for general use.

Dell 11z, 11.6" single core but a more powerful processor than most netbooks. 2gb ram. So for example, would be better for everyday tasks than the lenovo s12 but not at multimedia. Personally think other options are better. 250 at save on laptops again.

dell m101z - I've ordered one. The single core is much the same as the above. The dual core is phenominally better. 4gb ram and dual core - 11.6". The catch is that this retails for about 400 for single core, 500 pounds for dual core. I got mine certified refurbished though, so was 250 from dell outlet :)

Hp dm1 - similar story again but now difficult to get hold of. Dual core, 2/3 gb ram, about 280. Wouldn't recommend now as you won't find one cheap enough to justify unless second hand.

Samsung x120 - argos or scan for 300. 3gb ram dual core processor 11.6". Nippy and good. I was seriously considering this, but didn't really want to spend that much money.

Samsung x125 - Similar again, very fast processor but single core, 2gb / 3gb ram. Likewise Nippy and good. I was seriously considering this, but didn't really want to spend that much money either. These are about 400.

In the end, it all comes down to need. If you need dual core get one of those, otherwise go for single core. Then narrow it down by built quality, price and features you require. I bought the dell m101z as it was not only the most powerful, but had great build quality and a very attractive price. But I think that was quite a rare deal on the outlet. For example though, the lenovo s12 is one of the best for video thanks to the ion chip. But you might not like its more business basic looks.

Happy to help further if you wish. Comment here or pm.

If your not desperate for one AMD rival to the Atom processor is due out and products should start hitting the shelves soon. Look at the impressive benchmarks here an note the low power usage. Not sure on prices but Acers first model is $330 (£210) pre-order at amazon.com. So would expect it to be about £250ish here in UK.

can you just put 1-5 next to each of these in order of screen size please mate? 1 being the largest and so on, i want the cheapest - biggest (or best quality) screen!
