Good call Col, I was in two minds about those processors, but clearly the graphics are let down by option2 - i think you can upgrade option 2 to option 1's 8600gt for an extra 58 quid
#2
That upgrade is actually £94 on this one its the extra you quote on system 3 below :)

Also unsure how to rate the 2 processors against each other

But Im not really a PC gamer so unsure which to go for.

Add

PROCESSOR AMD® Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+
GRAPHICS CARD 256MB NVIIDA® GeForce® 8300GS Turbocache graphics card
£326

1, 2 or 3 :)

The 1st one is easily better. Currently the Core 2 range of processors are better than any AMD offerings. Not to mention you'd have to pay more to upgrade option 2 to have the same graphics power of option 1.

Did you look at 3? :)
banned#6
option 1, definitely
#7
Thought 3 was a refresh of number 2! The 8300GS is still a shocker of a graphics card. I'd still recommend number 1.
#8
Going to put one last one in the mix :)

4) PROCESSOR AMD® Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+
256MB nVidia™ GeForce 8600GT graphics card
£385

No :)

So 1 is winning.

Think number 2 is out now.

You can compare CPUs on this site.

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/

The Intel 6650 has a performance rating of 1476 (highest better) and a ranking of 34 (lowest better)

The AMD 5600 has a performance of 1129 and ranking of 49 so is WORSE than the Intel.

The 8600GT is the best graphics card on the list.

You can compare Dell graphics card here

http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/learnmore/learnmore.aspx/hmc_graphics_inspn_dt?c=uk&l=en&s=bsd&~lt=popup&ref=CFG

So therefore number 1 is best.
