Not strictly true loulou, there are many factors to take into consideration. For normal snapshots providing the camera is a quality brand 6 megapixels should suffice. I'll see if I can find you some more info or you can google :)

Anyway back to your needs....................
The Fuji F20 that sim11 posted is a great little camera and will take great family snapshots.

If you can't find one of those then the Fuji A920 at Boots is a very good camera and a good price. £79.99. Don't buy their memory cards though they are extremely highly priced.

You can also get the same camera through Amazon at the moment for £84 as I see Boots are waiting for stock :)

I'll try to find you some independent reviews :)

Review of Fuji A920 is here :

By the way this camera works with normal AA Alkaline batteries but it is best to buy some high capacity NIMH 2500 or above rechargable batteries and use them.

Also works with dual memory cards which is an advantage SD and XP. SD cards are seriously cheap at the moment and you can pick up a 1gb card for £4.98 via DVD.CO.UK or similar site.

And here's a pretty good site which gives advice (including resolution) in plain English:

Worth a quick read and hope it helps :)

I got this camera last week - it's fantastic :)

Gone down an extra £5 to £75, and you can use the voucher code in the coucher section to get it for £70

There is also an offer on at the minute, £5 (half price) for a case.

I would always go for the Fuji but then that's personal choice, which to be honest is what it's gonna come down to anyway. The Kodak ones look good and I'm not at all sure about Samsung. ChrisUK's deal at Play.com looks tempting I must admit. I'd still go for the Fuji though :)

You could always jot down those make and model numbers and take a trip to your nearest Jessops or similar and ask them to show you what their all about. Pick a quiet day/time though lol.

Plus I think Jessops are now matching online prices instore so you could end up being Ok to buy from them instore.

London Camera Exchange are also nice people usually and will help you.

Just a tip, if you find a camera you like online, print off the details, take instore to PC World, they will beat any price by 10% of the difference.

Argos have this HP Digi Camera and Printer package, for £89.99.

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500000701&langId=-1&searchTerms=6701640&x=15&y=10

I bought one of these a fortnight ago at £99.99

The Camera is the HP R742, 7.2mp - its a cracking little camera. It costs on average about £140-£150 online.

The printer is the HP C3180 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier, costs about £50 from HP.

HTH!

Not sure about the cost of the ink, as I have a printer I bought a few months ago (HP D5160 from Apple for £25!!) so I dont need the printer I got from Argos, and its now listed on eBay.

Whatever I make on selling the printer on ebay makes the cost of that Digi Camera even better!

But even at £89.99 for the printer and camera package, it really is a cheap price for that Camera, and then consider it a free printer!

:santa:
