If its an option get yourself a nationwide account, if its for hols and either take cash our or spend on the card, you get the international exhange rate which is pretty much exactly what you see on internet, not travel agents deals. Failing that there is a money converter on MSE which does holiday money etc should point you in the right direction.

Hi, I work in foreign exchange for a bank and i always carefully check the rates before i convert any cash. i always find marks and spencers are usually the best, however i'd advise a quick comparison before. Only thing is its a particularly bad time to change to eur as the exchange rate is at its weakest for sometime.

Cheers

Oh and whatever you do - DO NOT change money at the airport, as it is extortionate. Surprisingly with my hsbc credit card, i get better ex rates than i would changing at M&S, useful for buying meals then just carrying a small amount of cash.
